Tomorrow, we're unveiling our 10-year anniversary special edition scooter, the 450 Apex - the pinnacle of the 450 platform.

Ather has launched the 450 Apex, is priced at Rs 1.89 lakh.

- Magic Twist regen boosts range to 157km (IDC)
- Motor uprated to 7kW
- 100kph top speed
- Special Indium blue colour, transparent rear panel
- Belt cover debuts on Apex, will be on all Athers going forward

The 450 Apex uses the same 3.7kWh battery pack as the 450X but claimed IDC range has gone up to 157km, due to the new regenerative braking system. On the 450 Apex you can twist the accelerator 15 degrees backward to slow down the e-scooter without having to touch the brakes, a feature cleverly named 'Magic Twist'.

The motor on the 450 Apex is rated for 7kW of peak power and this e-scooter is the only one in Ather’s lineup to get the Warp+ mode. In Warp+, the company claims a 0-40kph time of just 2.9s and quicker 40-80kph times compared to the 450X.

Nothing new, just a faster 450x. Its a high time now ather should have focus on range too. Afterall its a scooter meant to be used in cities.

I am a huge fan of Ather. I have been following them since 2018. Ather is always on top of my list when electric scooters come into picture. But this launch is simply overpriced to my eyes. 2+lacs for an E-scoot that barely does 100km on a full charge is unacceptable to me. This might be Ather's peak and what not but this is just marketing moolah to me. I hope this disappears without a trace, since anyway Ather has low sales targets. That said, this does have nice feature add ons and I would like to see these on Ather's offerings ASAP.

I am just going to wait for warp++.. I am kidding, releasing a scooter which costs 30k more than the current one, for 0.4s, this is not F1 where those numbers matter, and talking of regen, Ola S1 has a good regen but scooters are not meant for reverse throttle stop, those are vary rare cases and all the amount of R&D spent on this isn't going to yield.

I am very sad to see that Ather has been overtaken by grandpa Bajaj with their Chetak. Ather were the early starters, they should be ruling the roost than slipping down the table.

A similar Throttle tech is already available on Ola S1/S1 Pro. And i find it very useful. It saves the life of brake pads.

I think this is just a 10'th anniversary special edition and would likely be built to order, not a separate model in the lineup.

I think this is the final iteration of 450 series and they will introduce their next scooter next.In all the reviews till now they did mention that this is a special edition to celebrate 450 series’s 10th anniversary and if this is peak of 450 then what’s next is probably not 450 but something new entirely. Only a hardcore fan will get this over 450x. I am cancelling my preorder.

You know a company is struggling when they put so much of emphasis on marketing, which they did with the Apex. Despite the hype, does it even meet the performance of the standard S1 pro?

I’ve put off my next EV scooter purchase for now, the Ola ticks the boxes, but I just do not trust the engineering on the product. I like the River Indie as it looks different as well as the Hero Vida, but will wait for Ather family scooter to be launched before making a decision.

Ather's bold claims of improved range (based on software improvements) are not true in my case. I purchased an Ather 450x (non-pro model) last month, which is supposed to have an improved real-world range of 110 km, but I get 85–90 km at best (I ride at 40 kmph). Range anxiety is quite real.

1.89lak (2.05lak OTR in Bangalore) for this scooter (Apex) without any major change in range or battery is not justifiable.
