Triumph to ramp up Speed 400 & Scrambler 400X production

Triumph plans to ramp up production of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. The bike maker aims to roll out 10,000 units per month by the end of the current fiscal.

Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto said, “Our current capacities are around 5,000-7000 units per month, and by the time we enter the last quarter of this fiscal year, we will be expanding Triumph bikes' capacity to 10,000 per month.”

Triumph also plans to expand its dealer network in India. “We started with only 14 dealers, and we are now at about 28, and by the end of the year, we will touch 100 cities from the current 20 cities,” Sharma added.

The Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X will be launched in international markets by the end of this month or by early November. These include the UK, North America, South America, Japan and Southeast Asian markets.

Sharma also shed some light on the company’s export plans. The bike maker aims to ship 20,000-30,000 units to global markets.

Re: Triumph to ramp up Speed 400 & Scrambler 400X production

The news evidently means Bajaj-Triumph are doubling capacity in as few as three months time. I did expect the turn of events. However, I believed that it will take at least until fiscal 2024 for the expansion to kick in.

I'd say good times are in for the consumer, the overall market, and the manufacturers.

At this rate, the new plant will be churning out almost to the tune of 35,000 vehicles a month (KTM - 25k + Triumph - 10k), which is almost 400,000 plus vehicles a year. Rahul Bajaj's plans for 1 million units can be achieved in the next 3-5 years, if they're able to manage the product-mix.

All the best to the Bajaj-Triumph team!
