Hero MotoCorp has trademarked the Hurikan and Hurikan 440 name tags in India.



Hurikan 440 could be a future Hero bike based on the 440 platform. Whether it is Hero’s version of the Harley-Davidson X440 or a completely different model remains to be seen.

That being said, we can expect it to use the same 440cc single-cylinder engine as the X440. This unit makes 27 BHP and 38 Nm in its current configuration. Hero could tune it differently to suit the new bike.



The Harley-Davidson X440 was developed in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp. It is also the most affordable model in Harley’s range.

Earlier, Hero MotoCorp had also filed a trademark for the Nightster 440 nametag.

They could have gone with Chakravaat - Toofan is already taken. I mean, if people accept Svartpilen / Vitpilen, they'll definitely accept a Sanskrit name.

Are these guys totally out of ideas or just downright lazy? When was the last time you heard of a standout name from Hero stable after CBZ, Karizma?

So this is why Harley tied up with them. So they can rebadge Chinese Harleys for the Indian market or maybe just use their Chinese engines in an outsourced frame and call it a Hero. Just like their Husky Dakar bike.
