Triumph Scrambler 400X could be launched around mid-October

The Triumph Scrambler 400X was unveiled alongside the Speed 400 in June this year. Now, the bikemaker is gearing up to introduce it in the Indian market. The bike could be launched in the second week of this month.

The Scrambler 400X shares its underpinnings with the Speed 400, which is already on sale in India. It has a similar design but with a slightly rugged look. It comes equipped with an analogue instrument console with a small LCD screen, a USB charging port, ride-by-wire and dual-channel ABS.

The bike has a 2-piece seat set at 835 mm compared to 790 mm on the Speed 400, longer suspension travel, wide handlebars with knuckle guards and a 19-inch front wheel shod with dual-purpose tyres.

The Scrambler 400X also has a slightly longer wheelbase compared to the roadster and weighs 9 kg more than the 170 kg Speed 400. The bike also gets a larger 320 mm brake disc at the front.

The Scrambler 400X is powered by a 398cc liquid-cooled engine that makes 39.5 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a torque-assist clutch.

Any word on the pricing ? The speed 400 knocked it out of the park with the pricing, and I really hope the can sort it out for this one as well

New video on the Scrambler 400X from Triumph -

This seems to be part of a bigger series of videos popping up on the Triumph youtube channel about all their bikes.

I'm hyped for what will likely be my first ever bike

Autocar said they're riding it this week, so the expectation is this weekend or so. Pricing expected at about 2.6 L, give or take 10k ex-showroom, which would put it at about 3.1 - 3.2L on road in Pune, more or less.

That's a Rs. 2,63,000! So about 3.2 on-road.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 Review

2.63 lakhs! Fantastic pricing. Now just waiting for the reviews and a test ride. Still haven’t gotten a message regarding intro pricing though, considering I was one of the early bird bookers.

Re: Triumph Scrambler 400X could be launched around mid-October

I've been looking forward to this since the mules were out in January! I'm planning to book one in December, after comparos with the Himalayan 452, the Adv 390 and so on. But having tested the Speed, I think this is going to be my choice. This is undercutting the 390 Adv X by about 15k, and I can't believe that Royal Enfield would put out the Himalayan for much less. Not to mention the looks, I'd take this over both of them.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 Review

About 3.5 to 3.6 on road here in Bangalore I guess. This means it will compete with the 390 X Adventure which sells for 3.72 here. But significantly undercuts the BMW G310 gs. I am now confused about my own booking.

There are a few bikes that I really like which are now similarly priced - Int 650 & 390 adv X.

Will wait for the final test ride reports before taking a decision.

Re: Triumph Scrambler 400X could be launched around mid-October

No discounts on this ? Still a pretty good price compared to the ADV X - but that would get a refresh based on the new Duke engine so ought to be interesting.

I just wish I wasn't in Bangalore having to shell out 50k+ as Tax for flooded roads

Still no news on the early bird discount though, for those such as myself who chose this over the Speed 400 when booking. Looking forward to the reviews.

Re: Triumph Scrambler 400X could be launched around mid-October

Glad I went ahead & purchased the Speed instead of waiting for the Scrambler.
₹2,63,000 seems like a greedy cash grab to me when compared to the pricing of the Speed; ₹2,53,000 would've been a good price with the same great strategy of having a discount of ₹10,000 for the first 10,000 customers.

Re: Triumph Scrambler 400X could be launched around mid-October

IMO, the pricing is not as aggressive as the Speed 400's pricing, especially if I consider the lack of 10K introductory discount on 400X. The price difference between S400 and 400X is about 30K. Looking at the 400X website, I am not very clear about the standard accessories that are included within the current 3.63L ex-showroom pricing. What are the additions that justify the 30K delta? Let's see the major differences:

S400 vs 400X:
Front Alloys: 17in vs 19in
Tyres: Wider Road tyres (F:110/70, R:150/60) vs Narrower AT knobby tyres (F:100/90, R:140/80)
Suspension Travel: 140mm front, 130mm rear vs 150mm both
Front Disc: 300mm vs 320mm
Seat Height: 790mm vs 835mm
Weight: 176kgs vs 185kgs
Standard accessories: Bar-end mirrors, Single piece seat, Single pipe exhaust, ABS sump guard vs Regular mirrors, Quilted split seats, Twin pipe exhaust, Aluminum sump guard (website shows ABS one though), knuckle guards, headlight protector grill, radiator guard
Features: Option to switch off ABS on 400X

I really hope they extend the 10K introductory discount to those who pre-booked the bike during the initial phase.
