So, here is my situation nice and short .
Although, I have two cars ( a Honda City & a Maruti 800 ), my job necessitates going into crowed and congested alley roads , where driving and parking my little 800 is starting to become a problem . I need to get a 2 wheeler . I have shortlisted the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125 ; I am leaning towards the Access 125.
Now coming back to the topic, I think I am required to add "gearless scooter" category to my existing DL ; which has LMV-NT as the category at the moment . I have told by several people that since I have a 4 wheeler driving license, I don't need worry about a gearless 2 wheeler license.
My question is, what am I required to do as per law ?
If I am to get a " gearless 2 wheeler " category added , it would be like getting a regular license, right ? Learner's permit, then test, and then a proper DL ?
Thanks & Regards .

You definitely need to get the class added.

Yes, very similar. I think you’re not required to take a learner’s license test. They’d issue the learner’s license without the test. And your driving license will be endorsed after the test.
All the best! :)

You should definitely get the new class added. I recently went through the same process as I wanted to add geared motor cycle to an existing 4W license. Mine didn't happen and I had to apply for a completely new license. The issue I faced was a different address and the name mismatch (no middle name on license) with Aadhaar. So if you don't have any such issues, the process is pretty simple - just browse through parivahan website and you will get all the details/process to get the new class added.
Can you take the driving test with a gearless scooter or does it have to be a geared bike?
