Hero testing new Xpulse and Xtreme with larger engines?

Hero MotoCorp may be working on a new variant of the Xpulse and a new streetfighter that could use the Xtreme nametag. Some reports suggest that the bikes might use the 210cc engine from the Karizma XMR, while others beg to differ.

The Xpulse test mule seen in these images looks smaller than the Xpulse 400 that was spotted earlier. Instead of an upside-down fork, these bikes are equipped with a conventional telescopic unit. The bike has an LED headlight and a raised front fender.

The other test bike featured in these images could be the Xtreme 210. It could be a streetfighter version of the Karizma XMR. It has large tank extensions, an upside-down front fork and alloy wheels.

The 210cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine that powers the Karizma XMR makes 25.15 BHP @ 9,250 rpm and 20.4 Nm @ 7,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slip-and-assist clutch. The jury is still out on whether the recently spotted test bikes have the same engine.

Ok, I'll come back here again after 4 years for yet another spy shot of Hero testing the new rumoured Xpulse with a bigger in-line 4, 1000cc engine Till then, better be happy with the actual products from KTMs and REs.

Re: Hero testing new Xpulse and Xtreme with larger engines?

Hero keeps releasing new updates on the Xpulse making owner feel like their new purchases are already outdated lol.

This move by Hero is exactly what I had suggested earlier. Why would they come out with a 400 first when they just built a new 210 cc powerplant? A 25 bhp LC Xpulse would be a good upgrade over the existing 4v oil cooled 19bhp motor. I'm sure they are simultaneously building the 400 to take on the Himalayan 450 and the 390 Adv. That obviously will be upwards of 3.5 lakhs x-showroom.

The 210 LC Xpulse on the other hand should be within the 2.5 lakh price on-road.

With that Hero can properly corner the Adv market in India given how capable and a hot favourite the Xpulse already is.

Pretty sure that it is using the new 210 engine but with a different clutch cover to reduce suspicion during testing phrase. Ofcourse, a different look for the motorcycle in it's production form as well.

This is AWESOME for touring! It makes more torque as well, which is great for off-road, I hope they keep the weight in check (sub-160kg) and it will be noticeably better than the archaic 200 4V motor. It is perhaps the most advanced single cylinder engine that an Indian company has done till date, without much of foreign inputs. So I am very excited to what they have in cards. XMR reviewers did specify the slightly vibey nature of the engine, I hope Hero is doing something about it because a vibey motor that cannot sit at 100-110 comfortably without enough juice for a quick overtake, is just embarrassing

The actual 'larger' engine is coming later, to compete with the Himalayan 452, Adventure 390 (399), Tiger 400 (based off the Triumph Speed/Scrambler 400). Hero showcased the concept 3 years ago in 2020, and last year, August 2022, we spotted them being tested along with the then unreleased XMR 210. Re: Hero testing new Xpulse and Xtreme with larger engines?

I can also confirm that all above posts are infact relatively true. A friend lives in the same apartment as one of the C level execs at Hero corp. One morning he spotted 2 motorcycles in test livery drop by for a chat. He rode them. Gave them both the thumbs up. Was sworn to secrecy.

One is the 210. Launching right now.

The other is the 400. Launch soon.

I also physically saw the 400 version being tested in Ladakh last year and had a nice chat with the personnel.

I know some insiders as well who had shared the 210 LC update in a conversation back in early August. I was very interested in buying a 4V and their view was to hold on for LC at least. But date shared by them was Q1 2024 and not 2023

Sir, I had one query? Is the 400 cc one liquid cooled?

So much for swearing to secrecy if he told you (and I'm sure there are others)

Haha. The guy is a bit of an introvert so I don't think he blows the trumpet too much. He just happened to mention it when I brought up the topic of the 400 I thought I saw in Ladakh.

He didn't let me in too much into the bikes themselves other than saying the 400 is an absolute beast.

That could be anytime in the next 6 months.

Will the 210 Xpulse have a new chassis? Can the 210 motor be shoehorned into the existing Xpulse chassis?

Well, I guess we will have to wait for the launch to get answers to these questions.

I couldn't wait for a year for my Urban warrior with WFH ending in June 2023 for me, so no regrets buying the Xpulse Pro, especially given the price of under 1.99 on-road.

I've got an XPulse 200 recently and consoling myself with the similar thought. The current edition of 200 motor is well refined at this time. Also, I may look forward to 400cc motor as an upgrade or an addition. The price at which the current 200 Pro is a good deal for me to getting started with this type of motorcycle and would be a good beginner testing platform. Considering the value one gets, the cost of maintenance and part and simple machine, it'd be good to wait till 400cc is launched and another year for it to get matured before one plans to get one. By the time I start learning new skills, enjoy this edition, in no time the 400 and many more motorcycles would show up in the market if one wants to shift a level up.
