Ather 450S HR e-scooter with a bigger battery is in the works

According to a recently leaked homologation document, Ather Energy could be working on a new variant of the 450S called the 'HR'. Reports suggest that this could be an acronym for "High Range".

The document reveals that the new Ather 450S HR could offer a maximum range of 156 km on a single charge, with a true range of around 110 km.

Powering the 450S HR will be a 3-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous motor with an output of 7.24 BHP. It is expected to get three riding modes: Sport, Smart and Eco, and will be restricted to a top speed of 80 km/h.

Being a version of the entry-level Ather 450S, the 'HR' could be offered with a similar set of features. These include the Deepview instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation; among others.

I own a Ather & by & large it is a great scooter, with very few niggles. The price however is ridiculous. What they need to do is strip it to the bare necessities to make it more affordable. Maybe do away with the display which I believe costs a fair bit. Maybe if riders could use their smartphones as displays. Battery prices are supposed to be falling anyway.

I completely agree with you. Ather will struggle to keep up with Ola despite having a superior product (Ola now has a bare minimum to fully equipped varients ranging from 89k to 140k). They need to bring their own S1X equivalent with a basic display and without any flashy and expensive equipments.

Keeping the power output aside, true range is still same as 450 X. why is it called High Range?

IMHO, Ather should now focus on creating more affordable electric scooters and drive volumes unless they want to remain a niche player.

A week ago, I saw 8-9 Athers undergoing test runs. I saw the group near Silk Board junction going towards Hosur and passed the last one of them near Attibele toll. Driven sedately and no camouflage but they sported the usual test plates in red. Since there wasn't any camouflage, I believe they must be testing the new battery or any drivetrain enhancements.
