According to media reports, Classic Legends has partnered with the University of Warwick to develop an affordable electric motorcycle. It could be sold under the BSA brand in European markets.

Classic Legends, backed by Mahindra & Mahindra, also owns the Jawa and Yezdi brands. The bike maker recently announced an investment of Rs 1,000 crore to develop new products and expand its distribution network.

The brand's main rival, Royal Enfield, is also working on an electric motorcycle. However, the Chennai-based bike maker will be targeting the premium end of the segment, before introducing affordable alternatives.

Re: Classic Legends could debut its first electric motorcycle in 2024

Honestly, I have not understood as to what Classic Legend's plans / priorities are, at a time when their Rivals like Royal Enfield have multiple motorcycle options avaiable in India. Even brands like Triumph, Harley Davidson are seriously bringing competent, affordable bikes.

Not sure if announcements to develop and electric cruiser makes sense. Other brands too develop electric crusiers, but Jawa as a brand have just 3-4 models , all of them using the same engine from Mojo.

I might sound off topic and my problem is not to digress on jawa/ Yezdi, but i I wish they brought out newer models in the ICE category.

Re: Classic Legends could debut its first electric motorcycle in 2024

From what I read in the press, they have tied by some lawsuits. There is no point in launching new models if they cannot be marketed. People running the brand are capable and well meaning. Unfortunately everyting that can go wrong has gone wrong for them. The odds are particularly stacked against them with the entry of Harley and Triumph.

They are nevertheless doubling down, and hoping for a turnaround in fortunes (url). This time they are betting on the BSA brand to fire for them overseas. Even RE has seen significant pick up in the export markets in the recent past.

It would make a nice case study a few years down the road. Who doesn't love an underdog after all.

Re: Classic Legends could debut its first electric motorcycle in 2024

Launching a new model every few months, I have lost track of what all they have launched other than their first ever launch. More so, because you hardly see any on the city streets to get familiarised to their looks and aesthetics, thats good enough for our grey cells to store and accord a MEMORY PLUS status. But here it's always a memory deletion, soon after such launches.

Classic Legends is owned by a corporate with deep pockets that can sustain. But the able brains from its boardroom are unable to gain confidence of bike buyers.

But here's an EV launch and hopefully we will track its trajectory and what its destined for, post the launch.
