Congratulations on the new ride, Love the colour on yours.
Thank you for starting a thread on the Avenis, Pushed me to share a few thoughts on our own.
We have been using 2 scooters for our primary usage,
Access 125 (2010) - 20k on the ODO
Wego 110 (2011) -30k on the ODO
We needed one in the office so we began the search for a new scooter, I was keen on looking for an electric one but elders at home were adamant on a Petrol vehicle, Somehow they still arent very convinced with the idea of an Electric, They are worried about the battery replacement costs. Our running is very less as you would have guessed from the above ODO readings. So began the hunt for a Petrol 125cc options in march 2023.
A lot of people in our circle have the Ntorq 125, It is a brilliant vehicle and having extensively ridden it was sure of it, But then a friend asked me to checkout the newly launched Avenis, The first thought that comes to mind is, "This is a copy of the NTORQ".
We liked the scooter,Opted for a very different dual colour- mettalic lush green/matte fibroin grey as suzuki calls it. Booking process was smooth, Delivery done in March 2023.
Cut short to date, 6 months on we have only 1k kms on the ODO.The scooter is primarily for riding within a 5km radius, and does the job well.
Here are a few observations from our ownership experience.
- A No-Nonsense scooter, smooth, sufficient power (Not as fun as the Ntorq)
- Mileage of 42kmpl strictly city, esay riding.
- Most pillion riders will find it difficult to get on, Seating position is slightly high.
- Have never once used the bluetooth, Didnt find any use case.
- Suzuki calls every 3 months for service. (More on that below)
- Didnt like the sound of it, Ntorq really sounds so much meatier.
- The front storage is sufficient for small items, though one has to be careful,I forgot my phone in it twice after reaching home. Would have liked an option to have a basket (The likes of what Ather offers)
- The underseat storage is good, A large helmet and a few other items fit in with ease.
- The rear tyre is smaller than the front tyre and that looks a little odd to me.
Can anyone explain the rationale behind it?
- The headlight is pretty powerful, Very happy with it.
- Misses a pass light and hazard lights.
- Seat is very comfortable and the fabric is of very good quality. Haven't opted for seat covers. The mat and footrest is the only accessories opted for.
I don't know if other scooter makers are doing this but I get calls to service the Avenis every 3 months and they say I dont then it will void my warranty.
I hace asked the dealer to give it to me in writing but they haven't reverted. My running is pretty low, Do I really have to make such regular service stops? Both our Wego and Access go only once a year for their service and both are in pristine condition. I really find this scooter expensive to maintain if they ask me to service every 3 months with hardly any running.
Other than that, A good workhorse to have in your stable, Suzuki engine is very smooth, reliable and refined. I hope it lasts as long as the access has.
