Looks like Cb350rs now?! Also if the booking amount is 25000, then the price should go above 3lakh. At which point people can look at the interceptor 650.

Re: First images of the made-in-India Harley-Davidson bike out!

Routing of exhaust pipe with ungainly gap under the engine doesn't inspire confidence. It might be prone to frequent damage/ cracking.

Keeping aside the Harley DNA aspects, I personally liked the way the bike looks. A glorified commuter is probably an apt definition and I think there is a fairly good demand for such bikes. Especially in the 350-400cc range.

Just looking at myself. I am looking to upgrade from my Pulsar 200NS. I like riding around but majority of the time it is regular commuter rides. I want to upgrade up, but at the same time practically does not make sense to go 2-3 segments higher. I absolutely do not like Royal Enfield and also don't like or trust Jawa and Yezdis. The KTM390, BMW are also not the types I prefer. The Highness is a fairly good option, but common and would have liked one between the 350 and 500.

With all this, somehow I think the Harley 440 fits in a nice niche and looks a perfect option for me on paper.

Looking forward to the launch and test rides. I have a history of buying products that are not best sellers but good products and fall into some niche categories. Also not intentional ,I have ended up buying from the first lots immediately after launch. Be it the Pulsar 200NS or even my Vento TSI. So I see the stars aligning on this.

To me, it looks like a toned down combination of Fat Bob, Sportster, Nightster. I liked how the bike looks except for two things: The indicators stand out like a bug's eyes, not in a good way. And the exhaust. They could have added some protection at the bottom, and the way it ends doesn't mesh with the rest of the bike.

What if this ends up being costlier than the duke 390? How many takers then? Like how the RE twins decimated the playing field with their pricing [for anything close to the 3-4 lac mark]. Of course, have to see this on-road ,in person as well.

I hope you end up with a good unit if so. I just would never risk it from the first lot of this. Even the hness350 had few issues like premature brake pad wear. But that is a joke compared to what other manufacturers face for first lots. I had engine oil and coolant mixing happen to even my second lot(1 year after launch) duke 390 years ago.

Just casually pinged Tusker Harley Bangalore. They are only taking booking interest via a form. Not actual bookings itself. Bookings will be after the launch on July 3rd. Calling it a priority customer listing.

The exhaust note sounds good. Seems like it makes a good bit of torque. Now lets see where they price it. Anything closer to the the RE 350 would be juicy. If not it would be another niche product.

Re: Harley-Davidson X440 bookings open in India ahead of July 3 launch

Launch is today at 7.30pm. Looks like the Triumph launch has stolen the thunder a little from this one. Got a mail from Tusker Harley Bangalore that bookings are open for all 3 variants ( no details) with a booking amount of 20,000.

Full page ad on the TOI paper as well. I think they won't overprice it, since now they have the Triumph competition as well.

Re: Harley-Davidson X440 bookings open in India ahead of July 3 launch

Looks to be pretty much down on performance compared to the Triumphs. Heard 27 BHP@6000rpm and 38 Nm@4000rpm. That's 13 BHP down on the Triumph that makes 40bhp and 37NM torque. The Triumph makes the peak power at 8000rpm and peak torque at 6500rpm. So, the engine characteristics are pretty different. Lot of talk on the engine sound. I think pricing will be key

Starting at 2,29,000/-, next variant at 2,49,000/- and top at 2,69,000/-
