Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

The pricing is quite good. Very close to the HD 440x and lower with the inaugural offer.
Glad to see that they have priced the bikes based on the specifications and not on the brand names they are carrying.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

2.23 Lakh Ex-Showroom is an excellent price for the Speed 400.

Even at the regular price of 2.33 Lakh it's a fantastic deal. That puts the on-road price here in Bangalore at around 3 Lakh even with our extremely high RTO fees. So the Speed 400 is going to be a sub 3 Lakh motorcycle in most of India.

Every bike from the Super Meteor 650 down to the Classic 350 is gonna take a hit from the Speed 400. The cheapest dual channel ABS Classic 350 is 2.58 Lakh on-road Bangalore. Around 40,000 rupees more for a bike with more than twice the bhp, a whole lot more features and from an extremely desirable brand like Triumph.

An amazing job by Triumph and Bajaj

The pricing is superb, but the only question that matters, who will service this thing? Anybody knows if Triumph or Bajaj will take care of this?

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

Honestly, I would play the waiting game for atleast 6 months before proceeding with booking. These bikes are slated to go on sale in EU at the end of the year. The first lot from Bajaj factories are usually the test mules rolled out to the general masses. KTM200/390, Dominar 400, even the pulsars were improved over time. Then again, thats the case with most manufacturers.

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

I humbly eat back my words that this would be priced more than 2.8lakh ex-showroom. Bajaj has simply hit this out of the park with pricing. I guess the booking for introductory pricing for first 10k customers would be over by tonight. I am still reeling from the shock pricing. Thank you Bajaj, for giving us a reason to smile. Kudos!

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

They have knocked it out of the park with the pricing. Superb VFM proposition. Really tempted to go and put down my money for one but will probably wait for 6-12 months to wait for any potential niggles to be ironed out. But this is going to make life for the HD X440 very hard. RE will still remain largely unaffected just purely because of the reach they have.

That is just mindblowing, and Triumph can expect a hit to practically everything overseas. Amazing pricing!

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

Finally, this 250cc+ segment is getting some action. And great to see this pricing competition between Bajaj/Triumph-Hero/Harley, that can only be good for us buyers! Till now going by the previous 250+cc bikes, it seems like '1Lakh per 100cc' was the default pricing formula! So the pricing of these 2 launches are great news. Here's to more releases/manufacturers/competition!

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

Nothing to say, just astonished from pricing, looks and choices offered. HD will find it difficult to cope up and RE need to work even harder. Excellent news for Indian Biking community, who were getting step mother treatment from Japanese brands. Triumph-Bajaj design team as done commendable job on these two stunningly gorgeous bikes. Its so tempting to grab that Scrambler in Khaki green. I might consider it as my 2nd bike for touring along with RE Himalayan 450 / Sram 450. But it all depends on how Triumph-Bajaj partnership deals with after sales service, numbers of ASC and spare availability etc. And of course after TeamBhp review on these bikes. By mean time they must have ironed out initial niggles. And we all should be proud when Indian manufactures are partnering with reputed global brands. We all know how beneficial it was for us when Bajaj & KTM collaborated. And by looking at Speed/Scrambler 400 the fit & finish, materials used and attention to details have much improved when compared with Bajaj/KTM products. So both parties are benefiting in various areas.

In Triumph India official webpage specification of seat height of Scrambler 400x is 835mm.

I could not watch the media event. Have they skipped on anything on Indian version bike against the one which would be made available in UK? Anything which is important but skipped to meet this amazing price?

5k bikes to be manufactured annually and 2.23 lac introductory pricing for the first 10k customers. So, what is the delivery timeline these customers are looking at?

Re: Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X unveiled

Surreal pricing!!! Utterly gobsmacked. Gotta say, when Bajaj decides to do something, they arrive with a bang! I’ll definitely be seriously looking at the Scrambler. Really amazing package for the money. And I for one am perfectly happy without the fancy screens, gadgets and doodads if one can deliver a mechanically great bike at a price like this. I hope this makes RE seriously up their QC game because they’ve been used to dishing out whatever to their customers and getting away with it because it has supposedly been value for money. Super happy as a customer to see such competition. Now if only Honda would wake up and get their act together. One can dream.

They have added longer mudguards(fenders) for Indian market.
They have changed tyres, I came across a Scrambler video which had MRF tyres instead of Metzler. That's a small thing, better to change own choice tyre brand/model after 10,000 Kms.

What a sweet surprise 2.23 lakhs. Booked the black beauty immediately.
Need to wait for reviews on how the heat levels are in our Indian condition.
Eagerly waiting for the test drive.
