I never said Tbhp misled the review. It's a very grey area. Most youtube video reviews don't know any better except for reputed channels and even then, they just mention it in passing and don't really talk about them.

Enthusiasts will be fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do their in-depth research but your average bike rider will not. Just go and listen to some of the takes your non-biker non-enthusiasts friends have on bikes. I myself was believing these will have the full convenience of tubeless somehow, maybe the rims have a coating inside or what not. But my scepticism keeps me away from it until I will get clarity on it.

Dealers are not going to pass up on a sale, especially when there is a grey area which can be easily sold like this one.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 650 caught testing in India | Edit: Now unveiled

This bike looks gorgeous, definitely living up to the "Classic" nameplate. They're built on the Shotgun platform, which itself is based on the Super Meteor. So, unfortunately, the ground clearance issue from the Super Meteor affects the suspension travel, leading to a harsher ride. Classic 350 owners, wanting to upgrade, might not be thrilled with that.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 650 caught testing in India | Edit: Now unveiled

I was very excited for this launch, however it is very difficult to understand what RE wants to achieve with this bike. It is not much different from Shotgun, and apparently all the problems that existed with SG650 persist with Classic 650 Twin.
Though a personal choice, but I did not like any of the color options. I am not a fan of chrome. I would be good if they launch single tone color options.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 650 caught testing in India | Edit: Now unveiled

Honestly can't help but feel a bit disappointed.

I was never a "Royal Enfield Bro" but have always appreciated their new gen products starting with the 650 twins and remember being so excited about what was next to come.
Figured that as the platform was worked on, we might get a more powerful version or with better weight management but almost half a decade since and we're still stuck with 47 bhp with A2 license limits being used as an excuse. Keep the 47bhp version and give us something more? or make it lighter? The engine is apparently more than capable of pumping out more?

This is by far the prettiest bike on the 650 platform but is this what the Classic nameplate deserves? A 243 kilo platform engineered bike which is a third gen "rebadged" version of another bike (Shotgun and SM) with tubed tyres, seriously.

If they brought this out before the SM and Shotgun or fixed, I feel like it might have made a tad bit more sense or hey, even fixed a few quirks that exist in those bikes but this feels like a lazy marketing cash-grab to let the Classic name, with the added caveat of tubed wheels, do all the heavy lifting (pun intended) that their engineering department could not.

Regardless, would not be surprised if that "Classic" badge is enough for this bike to start flying off the shelves.

This will fly in the overseas market. RE hit a jackpot. There's nothing in the retro classic market with such appeal and at this price.

Hi Neil

This is music to my ears as a future potential buyer of the Classic / Bullet 650. Was there some announcement to this effect by RE, or were there some reports hinting this?

Ride safe!

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 650 caught testing in India | Edit: Now unveiled

When the images and videos came out of the EICMA earlier this month, the bike looked stunning 10/10.
Reason ? It was in the single seat set up.

Now at motoverse, they showed the bike with Pillion seat and it looks same as how it did on Shotgun making the pillion seat and the frame feel like an after thought. The gap below rider seat (which was present before too) now looks weird. There are so many welds for the pillion seat which reduces the premium feel IMO.

It really does look wierd.

Folks looking for a cohesive pillion seat integration would have to wait for the Bullet 650.

Here's a spy shot of it.

Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin to be launched in January 2025

Earlier this month, Royal Enfield unveiled the Classic 650 Twin at EICMA 2024. As per the latest reports, the new twin-cylinder model will be launched in India in January next year.

The Classic 650 Twin is the sixth motorcycle based on the brand’s 650cc platform. It is essentially a Classic with a bigger engine and chassis borrowed from the Shotgun 650.

The Classic 650 Twin has a circular headlamp with position lights on either side, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a circular taillight and dual peashooter exhausts. The analogue instrument console has also been carried over from the Classic 350.

The familiar 648cc parallel-twin engine produces 46.4 BHP @ 7,250 rpm and 52.3 Nm @ 5,650 rpm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via an assist and slipper clutch. The bike is equipped with a telescopic front fork and dual shock absorbers at the rear. It has disc brakes at both ends.

I like the single seat much better. Because the Classic and Bullet share the frame, can the single seat from the Bullet be retrofitted into the Classic?

..and vice versa was possible in the previous iteration.

243 Kg, goodness gracious me! At that weight it's in the 1200cc Harley 48 territory!

Digging this thread up.

Any ideas when the India launch is happening? Wasn’t it supposed to be in January?

I wonder what’s holding them up. Let’s hope they surprise us with tubeless spoke wheels after all this waiting. Fingers crossed.
