Re: Ola Electric plans to raise US$ 1 billion through an IPO

Run for your life, save yourself. Also check your mutual fund holdings, check if they are buying the IPO. You may avoid directly investing in the IPO, but may be forced indirectly by the mutual fund houses. At least, that is what I noticed after Paytm IPO and pulled my money out of those fund houses.

Re: Ola Electric plans to raise US$ 1 billion through an IPO

Domestic investors, including SBI AMC, HDFC AMC, Nippon Life India AMC and UTI AMC will bid about USD 200 million each, while international ones such as Fidelity, Nomura and Norway's Norges Bank will bid in the range of USD 75-100 million each.

The maximum that an investor would be allowed is around USD 30 million.

I think that is what is going to be the best for them, Hero should pick up a 51% stake in Ather, and make it its subsidiary while retaining it as a separate brand within the group with their separate showrooms, the Vida line should be slowly merged into the Ather portfolio and together it should be a win-win for all. With Hero and Ather teaming up, I see Ather cementing its place among the top 3 electric two-wheelers perhaps even bringing the fight to Ola as well if they strategize the next generation of the 450 series well.

For now, it makes more sense for Hero to keep Ather separate. Because R&D and product development can be palmed off to greedy/gullible investors,

Re: Ola Electric plans to raise US$ 1 billion through an IPO

Despite all the shortcomings, I think Ola will move forward with products having good sales. CEO might be arrogant and not really innovating but he is taking the risk which I would support. There might be some good money to be made just like any stock. Also, we need jobs.
