RC book has different chassis number | Now what?

Hi All,

I have a situation where in my Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350cc has got a different chassis number in the RC. The bike was purchased in 2008 in Bangalore and is now in Kerala. Now that the bike is approaching 15 years, had the confusion whether to sell it or get NOC and get it transferred to Kerala. I was abroad for the last 11 years or so and never used the bike much. Now when checking the last character in the chassis number is M where as in the RC it is H. Not sure if it is due to this issue I am not able to get the bike registered in sites like Parivahan etc.

Any idea what needs to be done ? The bike is still in KA registration and its more than 12 years since I left Bangalore so I have no contacts there. If any of you know what needs to be done or what is the best option then please do let me know.

Thanks
Ashwin

Reach the RTO with original invoice, RC and vehicle for physical inspection.

I suggest reaching out to RTO brokers/Agent as they often have intermediaries who can resolve such problems at a reasonable cost. These intermediaries are skilled at addressing these issues without requiring a significant expenditure.

It's a common mistake which RTO's commit and make customers run around. You have to go to RTO and ask for form to be submitted for RC correction. Get chasis imprint on a blank paper and also copies of RC card and your address proof(they may ask).
Might ask for inspection as well. Go with your bike.

Fee is around INR 300 in Karnataka for this. RTO will take your original RC along with form and will correct entry in their database and send you new RC with updated chasis#.
