Royal Enfield 650 Twins to get Tripper Navigation as accessory

According to a media report, Royal Enfield will soon offer Tripper Navigation as an optional accessory on the Interceptor and Continental GT 650.

Royal Enfield recently introduced several updates on the 650 Twins. The bikes now come with alloy wheels, new switchgear and LED headlights. Besides Tripper Navigation, customers will also be able to equip their bikes with LED turn indicators.

The Tripper Navigation pod will attach to the existing twin-pod instrument console. It is essentially a Bluetooth-enabled display that shows distance and direction metrics. Reports suggest that customers will have to shell out Rs 5,000 extra for this feature.

Tripper Navigation is offered as standard fitment on the Super Meteor 650. It is unclear if it would be possible to equip older Interceptors and Continental GTs with this feature.

Something more useful for me would be the gear position indicator. A good sturdy phone holder can easily work better than the tripper navi.

Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twins to get Tripper Navigation as accessory

I believe the whole instrument console in the Interceptor and Continental GT needs to be updated. They show the age of the models more than anything else. There is no gear position indicator. There is no separate indicator for the left and right turn signal.
It is high time they put in a new instrumental console rather than just retro fitting the tripper navigation. It is also imperative as the newer RE models have a much better designed and functional instrument console.

Does anyone use this? I have this on my Himalayan and I have always used my phone for navigation. It will be useful if it has a proper map view instead of the arrows. The display seems to be capable of showing proper map in my opinion.

It will also great if it had shown incoming call/notification. Otherwise it will be a gimmick that no one uses.

Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twins to get Tripper Navigation as accessory

Mildly OT:
I personally hate the oft-demanded gear position indicator. Even on my old bike a decade and a half-ago (my first innings), As a pillion, I would practice and be very happy with correctly guessing what gear my bike (and my friend's bikes) was (were) in - while riding, I invariably just knew.

Which is how it should be IMO - it is the minimal level of mechanical sympathy for a rider. I'm therefore glad I got my twin before any such update. I hope it never comes to these retro bikes. The old cluster shows their age? Good!

Yeah ... incoming call alert seems to be the newly introduced feature.

Does it show time?

One of the biggest miss on the interceptor is not even a clock, which is utterly stupid.

Yep, it does show time, and it will sync the time with your phone when connected by Bluetooth.

Will it be coming to excising trippers? Any news on that?

IMHO it is a much needed welcome addition to a formidable machine.
And While checking on RE Website still Int / Cont 650 is not listed under Tripper Navigation compactable models. Hopefully they will update soon

No idea .. I was checking out the recent price hike on Classic 350 models (may be it is across the board) and happened to stumble upon this tripper update.

All I need is an accurate fuel meter on the 650 twins. Not the tripper, not the gear indicator, but a working and a close to accurate fuel meter on the console!

Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twins to get Tripper Navigation as accessory

No one asked for this or needs it. A friend who had bought the first gen Meteor used it on a few trips and then reverted to a standard mobile holder for google maps. The reason was this was just too glitchy after a few months. In my opinion the twin pod cluster of the current Interceptor and GT is perfect. It has everything you need and I love the 2 needles. All it needs is maybe a more accurate fuel gauge.
