KTM 390 Adventure V (low seat version) priced at Rs 3.38 lakh

The lower seat height variant of the KTM 390 Adventure has started reaching dealerships. Reports suggest the new variant is called 'V' and is priced at Rs 3.38 lakh (ex-showroom).

The KTM 390 Adventure V has been designed specifically for short riders. To make the ADV more accessible, KTM has lowered the seat height from 855 mm to 830 mm.

KTM is said to have modified the suspension as well. As a result, the V variant has less suspension travel, while the ground clearance has reduced slightly.

The bike uses the same 373.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as before. This unit puts out 43 BHP and 37 Nm. The braking setup is also expected to be carried over, with a 320 mm disc at the front and 280 mm at the rear supported by dual-channel ABS.

Re: KTM 390 Adventure V (low seat version) priced at Rs 3.38 lakh

KTM really has gone to town introducing useful variants to the 390A. So now there’s the regular 390A; the stripped down 390A (X); the low seat 390A (V) and the very shortly to be launched spoke wheel variant (R?) which is expected in a week or two max.

Wish they’d done this much earlier though, and not in what is likely the last mile of sales with this generation until the all new Duke 390 based refreshed 390A gets launched sometime in 2024 I guess.

Not sure if its just a way to get out surplus inventory but I really hope they continue this range of variants from the word go when they launch the next gen 390A in 2024 / 25.

This is a good move.
I know so many friends, who did not buy it only because of the seat height.

Hope KTM gets some good sales numbers.
There's nothing as fast & capable with cheap spares for the Indian streets, like the 390 ADV.

First the X version and now the low seat version. Looks like KTM is going all out targetting wider audience. This should bring in good sales! Good Move

Re: KTM 390 Adventure V (low seat version) priced at Rs 3.38 lakh

I haven’t used big bikes. Max, I used to have Unicorn 160. I'm 5'6".

The other day I test rode the Suzuki Vstorm 250. I was a bit uncomfortable with the seat height. Do we have to get adjusted eventually after some use? Vstorm 250's seat height is 835mm.

Anyway, 830 mm seat is a big welcome. I think many short riders can customise their current 390 advs with these new shocks with less travel. How about KTM ADV250 with low seat. They should bring that also.

A general thought.

If a manufacturer is designing an ADV from scratch, is it difficult for them to bring down the seat height further, like, to 800mm. Can it be done by tweaking the frame or it is inherently not possible to design an ADV with low seat?

By the way, I felt RE Himalayan seat height comfortable, the suspension travel is also good.

Re: KTM 390 Adventure V (low seat version) priced at Rs 3.38 lakh

One point I forgot to mention.

While the other variants are indeed interesting, for anyone who’s considering this low seat ADV with the Duke suspension, I’d actually suggest they should instead wait for the very soon to arrive all new 390 Duke.

I think that bike will just overall be a much better proposition in the hope that it’ll be a chassis / engine / suspension combo that ground up talks to each other much more fluently. The KTM 390A was already a bit of an imperfect variation to the Duke and combined with this band aid fix to offer a low seat version by swapping the suspension - I just think the Duke will do most of what you want to do off tarmac with this adventure variant and just be so much rewarding on the road. It’ll also be buying into the latest generation so there’s that added advantage.

Re: KTM 390 Adventure V (low seat version) priced at Rs 3.38 lakh

They key selling point of the adv390 was its' increased ground clearance and more suspension travel. Now with the same suspension as duke and a 'normal' ground clearance, to whom is this bike targeted towards? Might as well can go for the duke which has better on-road dynamics than a confused adventure

All they need to do now is introduce the adjustable front suspension like the international variant has (at least as an option) and it will become the most complete ADV you can buy under 6 lakhs.

I suppose its kind of like selling a GLC which is the SUV version of the C class and then the GLC coupe which is the somewhere in between both of them.

Looks like KTM is on the roll. It is the best single cylinder ADV in market and by introducing low seat variant will definitely improve sales.

I think KTM will gain sales when they launch 390 Adv XY or Z variant that is strip down version of 390Adv with lower seat height.

The 250cc Vstrom is based on the same principle afaik. Same suspension as the Gixxer, slightly higher ground clearance due to the bigger wheel up front, and a beak. I think it's just the adv bike look that's trending, and KTM wants to cash in.

Nope, I own a V-strom, the front suspension has 20% more travel and is softer and rear has much longer travel - 143mm compared to Gixxer 250.
The higher Ground clearance is not just due to bigger front wheel, even the swing arm is longer and the front is raked out. There are other differences too.

The Adv has a more generous and comfier seat than the Duke. Also more room to tie luggage and added wind protection as standard. Duke is still just a city bike where you could do some weekend rides at the max. I think this version of adv will appeal to a lot more potential customers than before.

The front suspension travel of V Storm 250 is 120mm only, the same as Gixxer 250. Suzuki India website says so here: https://www.suzukimotorcycle.co.in/p...#hb_electronic . Maybe you could post a pic from the user's manual.
