Rumour: Honda working on a 350cc ADV bike for India

Honda is reportedly working on a new 350cc adventure bike for the Indian market. The new model is likely to be launched this year by Diwali.

Honda’s new ADV motorcycle is said to be based on the same platform as the H’Ness CB350 and CB350RS. The bike is expected to have a different steering geometry with long travel suspension, higher ground clearance and offering a more upright riding position.

The new model is likely to be powered by the same 350cc, single-cylinder engine as the H’Ness CB350. It develops 21 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 30 Nm @ 3,000 rpm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Some reports suggest that Honda’s upcoming ADV/crossover may not be a hardcore off-road touring bike like the Royal Enfield Himalayan, but a Meteor 350 rival.

Is it asking too much to have a bike with the engine of the CB350 and the styling of the CB200X? That would be great!

Wasn't there a recent news item about the Honda CB300X?

Anyway, even if this Honda is pitched against the Meteor, it would be good to have something lighter and smoother than what's available to us now from RE. Same goes for the ADV too.

We just saw Honda's "Cafe Racer" joke based on the Highness 350 and had a good laugh. And Honda is already getting the next one ready for us!

For all the R&D power and the spending power that Honda possesses, I really wish they put in a sincere effort and brought out motorcycles that would do their legacy proud.

Meteor Style bike from Honda will be a good alternative for people looking for bike with lower seating.

Why isnt there a CB300X? at the current pricing the 300F is a decent buy even though its specs are poor.

I know hardcore bike enthusiast who works in Bigwing. He flat out says Honda Bigwing plan is plain stupid and just curses the plan that Honda comes up with in regards to their premium bikes. Inspite of having such might they will never crack the India market. Kinda like Ferrari in F1 right now

No, it's a reasonable ask. I'm with you on this. As such CB200x looks awesome to me.

I fully agree to above. Honda should localize the 500cc dual cylinder engine platform. When Honda slashed the prices of CB500x by a lakh all bike were sold out.
With ADV in vouge, their 300cc rally models will sell like hot cakes.
People are ready but Honda is not!!
So till then this nonsense from Honda will continue, as Activa and Shine continue to bring in numbers.
Shine 100 another from Honda

Activa, Shine and Dio aside, Honda is in pretty big trouble with their lineup from 160cc to 300cc - X Blade, Hornet 2.0, CB200X, CB300F, CB300R all have been selling in barely been selling in triple digits and sometimes in double or single.

While their overall quality of bikes are good, their rivals provide better bang for buck and better features. So consumers have no reason to pick overpriced Honda's.

Apart from price there is one more reason. Limited reach. For a big state like Rajasthan there are only two bigwing dealerships in Jaipur and Kota.
And again these can't service bikes above 500cc.
Can you imagine if someone buys CB350 in Jodhpur, he has to buy it from Jaipur and ride every time to Jaipur to get it serviced. In such a situation who will buy?

This is essentially a repeat of CBR250R. Good product initially with no meaningful development/updates down the years. Eventually 350 series may go the way of the 250r.

Re: Rumour: Honda working on a 350cc ADV bike for India

As someone who recently bought the 300R, I see why Honda is doing this. Engine and platform sharing has done wonders for RE and Honda is trying to cash in on the wave in the middle weight segment.
Their 350 cc bikes are selling in good numbers.
300F was a pricing disaster.
300R was launched as an entry to premium segment and it has been priced accordingly.
It would be really an interesting line up if they bring an adventure and a cruiser version based on their 300/350 cc engines. I just hope they price it right.
Agree that their cafe racer attempt was laughable.
But what I have heard is that they are planning a 650 cc version as well.

Good times for sure.
