Ola S1 e-scooter recalled over front fork arm issue

Seems like there is an official recall for the front fork. I received this today. They should have done this earlier but better late than never.

Re: Ola S1 e-scooter recalled over front fork arm issue

Such a misleading statement. If the initial design was stress tested under extreme conditions and the company stands by the narrative that is nothing wrong with it why is there a new front fork redesign in the first place? They are just contradicting themselves.

And why is this "optional"? Is that even allowed in a recall?

Re: Ola S1 e-scooter recalled over front fork arm issue

Good that Ola acknowledged an issue with their scooter. This was the earlier response they had in January when there were a handful of incidents where the front fork broke. Not making it a mandatory recall is a bit surprising though.

Quote:
At Ola, vehicle safety & quality standards are of the highest priority. The Ola S1 Pro is built with an uncompromising attention to quality in all aspects and has been rigorously tested over 5 million kms across challenging terrains and all weather conditions.

We have more than 150,000 vehicles running on the road and we have observed this in extremely isolated cases of high impact accidents involving the front fork arm, which is designed with a factor of safety that is 80% higher than typical loads encountered on vehicles.

To alleviate any concerns of our community members, we would be happy to get your scooter checked through our service network

We sincerely urge everyone to strictly follow road safety protocols, always wear a good quality helmet and avoid riding on public roads without a valid driving license.

Re: Ola S1 e-scooter recalled over front fork arm issue

Factor of Safety that is 80% higher than normal loads?

Even in the airline industry, the FoS of parts is between 1.2-1.5. And Ola claims it to be 1.8. Which simply shows that their method of validation was absolutely wrong.

Atleast they're giving an option to upgrade the forks which is welcome but wonder why they're making it optional. Hope they don't discourage existing customers from upgrading it.

Re: Ola S1 e-scooter recalled over front fork arm issue

Rather than admitting that the e-scooter's front fork was defectively designed, Ola uses a circuitous route to proclaim that they had thoroughly tested these defective forks to withstand extreme conditions. (??)

Now they say that owing to the continuous engineering and design improvement process they have upgraded the front fork design to enhance the durability and strength even further.

They need to check upon the durability of front forks of the five to six decade old Lambretta and Vespa scooters that are still in use, though as vintages.

I believe Maruti has now upgraded a few cars from their lineup lately from ZERO to get awarded the FOUR STARS safety rating from NCAP. Maruti has also presumably done the similar OLALIKE "continuous engineering and design improvement process" to enable these cars bag four stars.

Going by the OLALOGIC will Maruti now offer four star safety rated cars as replacements to those who have already bought their "zero" Safety rated cars?

Bhavish Aggarwal will, in all probability sink Ola singlehandedly with his attitude.

Journalist Alisha Sachdev wrote an article where she rightfully pointed out that ola did know about the issue and ignored the safety of owners for a long time. Then she tweeted about it and did not even tag Ola or anyone from them.

But Bhavish being Bhavish cannot keep quiet and chose to make fun of Mint.

Bhavish thinks he is Elon Musk, but forgets that he doesn't have the money or charisma

and even Elon's money and charisma seem to be running out of gas
