Here’s why Ather Grid chargers will cut-off at 80%

Ather Energy has announced that it's Ather Grid public chargers will now cut off when the battery reaches 80%. The company says that this will help reduce wait times at the chargers.

Ather Grid charger will automatically unlock from the scooter once the 80% cut-off is reached. According to CEO Tarun Mehta, once the solenoid is disconnected, charging cannot continue for safety reasons. It would enable another e-scooter user to disconnect the connector from the charged scooter and connect it to their scooter.

Ather has also introduced a similar feature on the 450X. The ‘Optimal Charging’ feature was part of the Ather Stack software update and allows the user to cut off charging at 80% when using a home charger.

Ather plans to install more than 2,500 EV chargers across India by the end of this year. It has already installed over 1,000 fast charging stations across 80 cities, with 60% of those in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
