Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 technical details leaked

The Royal Enfield Interceptor, Continental GT and Super Meteor currently make up the brand's 650cc range. The bike maker is now gearing up to add a fourth model to the line-up.

The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is a new roadster based on the same platform as the Super Meteor. As per the type approval certificate, the Shotgun 650 measures 2,170 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 1,465 mm. The bike is 70 mm narrower, and the overall height is 50 mm shorter than the Super Meteor.

The Shotgun will be powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin engine producing 46.3 BHP @ 7,250 rpm. Peak torque is expected to be around 52 Nm, and the engine will be mated with a 6-speed gearbox.

In terms of design, the Shotgun 650 is likely to feature a circular LED headlamp, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and mid-mounted footpegs offering a sporty riding position. The bike will be equipped with an upside-down front fork, dual rear shock absorbers and dual exhausts.

Now that's how you design a beautiful bike. The decal alone adds another 50 km/h to its speed.

I'm dying to see how this beast looks in black. For me a bike can be any color as long as it is (or is close to) black.
Looks like a good upgrade. Can't wait to test ride this one!!!

Have been waitingfor the shotgun hoping this is bike is like an interceptor, but with all its inconveniences designed out. Looks like the wait will continue with the new Himalayan being prioritized.

That's interesting if true.

At 740mm seat height, the Super Meteor 650 is already a low motorcycle. I would expect Shotgun 650 to get higher not lower seat height especially due to a larger rear wheel.

Without a larger rear wheel than the Super Meteor 650, the geometry may not really work out.

What a beauty! Somehow the name Shotgun doesn't suit it (Maybe it suits a Scram), but this definitely grabbed my attention.

Royal Enfield Shotgun videos

Looks like RE is all set for Shotgun. Looks like they are following the same mode of release like that of Himalayan.

Re: Royal Enfield Shotgun looks beefy in new spy pics

Does anyone make out from the videos and pics if they have made changes to the suspension? On the super meteor the suspension was a sour point in an other wise good bike, have seen a recent post as well on the forum where someone has sold the bike within months of purchase, cos the suspension sent shockwaves into your spine when you hit a pothole.

The shorter wheelbase and different wheels will probably increase ground clearance, which I think can permit some suspension travel to be added. If that's there then maybe there's literal room for improvement.

Re: Royal Enfield Shotgun looks beefy in new spy pics

This one looks like a 650cc version of Hunter to me. Just like SM650, rear suspension is the sore point of Hunter as well which compelled me to sell it with a heavy heart after just 6 months 2000kms on the clock. This one from the pictures doesn't look like having a nitrox suspension. RE should rectify this issue in their future launches otherwise these will remain niche bikes in India.

Re: Royal Enfield Shotgun looks beefy in new spy pics

The concept looked like a proper crusier - the production version is too similar to the Super Meteor. I think RE should have kept the beefy wheels and the exhaust from the concept - even if it pushed up the weight.
