45-day waiting period for Suzuki Access 125?

Hi members.

Long time reader, first time poster. I'm looking for some advice.

I am in the market to buy a Suzuki Access 125 BT edition. Current vehicle is a TVS Scooty Pep+ because wife wanted a "lighter" vehicle, it was a bad decision and time to upgrade. TVS vehicles were never in consideration because of prior bad experience of getting cheated at a service center.

The other contenders were Honda Activa and Honda Activa 125. I've owned an Activa before and I was quite happy with it. I wanted a slightly more powerful version because of a relatively long office commute (10+km one way) and Access 125 edged out Activa 125 (kerb weight was one of the considerations).

Anyway, Ninestar Suzuki in Kaikondarahalli, Bangalore is claiming a 45 day waiting period for the top end version. Aishwarya Motors in Dommasandra, Sarjapura Road which also seems to be owned by Ninestar Suzuki claims immediate availability of a vehicle as long as I'm not particular about the color. Do I need to be concerned if it's a display vehicle or if there's some other catch?

What should I watch out for before taking delivery?

Re: 45-day waiting period for Suzuki Access 125?

I recently purchased Access 125 (not the top end Bluetooth edition) and can confirm that what you heard is correct. However what I have also heard that ususaly they say 45 days but delivery may happen in 3-4 weeks time.
About your specific question, do check the VIN (chassis) number to confirm manufacturing month to ensure that it is recent. Other than that I am not sure there's a way to identify display vehicle.
On side note, if you really don't need BT connectivity then other models are available sooner. Do check out reviews and utility of BT feature before you go ahead. I have read mixed reviews of this feature and figured out that for my requirements, I really didn't need BT.

Re: 45-day waiting period for Suzuki Access 125?

@Aviator_guy thank you for responding. I went ahead and paid for the vehicle and got the delivery today. When I visually inspected the scooter, it did look brand new to me, I believe I got lucky because it was the month end and somebody who had booked the vehicle backed out.

To answer your question about BT connectivity, I tend to keep my vehicle for a long time, even the scooty pep lasted for many years, so going for the top end model seemed worth it. I did test the turn by turn navigation during my ride home and it worked pretty nice (using mapmyindia maps not google maps).

Maybe the delay in receiving new lot is due to changes for BS6-2 and E20 compatibility?

Not really. The 45 days waiting is only for top end model. Other models are available much quicker, in fact the base model is available for immediate delivery.

It's similar situation with Honda Activa and even TVS Jupiter whose 125cc top end models are upto 60 days waiting.

Good day,
Can you kindly clarify the E20 compatibility? Is a new model coming out?
or is the current model E20 compatible?

I am getting a new scooter for my dad. He has set his eyes on access ever since it has been out. I need to know if I should wait for the newer E 20 compatible Access.

Thank you,
Happy motoring.

Today I read an article that Suzuki is upgrading Access to BS6 phase 2 and E20 compliant. I would suggest you wait for few days(April) if you are planning to buy new version. Be informed that prices have gone up slightly for the new version (couple of thousand). There is no other change in the model though.

Thank you for the prompt reply, was unaware of this.
Future lies with E20 compliant vehicles, so it would be prudent to wait i guess.
Happy motoring.

I bought the new E20 Access Spl Edition last week .
The difference was around Rs 3000.
Luckily there was just one blue available in Stock, otherwise the waiting is around 30 days minimum.

Re: 45-day waiting period for Suzuki Access 125?

Hello,

My eye is on Access 125. I liked most of the features, the one that is irking me is the fuel lid. I have a Scooty streak(unfortunately - an impulsive decision at that time ). The fuel lid often gets rusted and does not lock and unlock properly. So what I want to know is if there is any news on Access 125 for the fuel lid to be operated from the key just like Avtiva or other vehicles. I am not in a hurry. I am okay to wait for another 6+ months, Just wanted to know if I can be optimistic here.
