UK: Royal Enfield 650 twins get alloy wheels, LED headlamp & blacked out bits

https://www.royalenfield.com/uk/en/m...s/interceptor/

Finally, RE seems to have done what everyone wanted, and have offered the 650 twins with alloys.
This welcome change is accompanied by blacked out engines and exhausts.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Hopefully this makes to our shores soon, and they have enough stock, lot of people will be lined up to buy this. Love the blacked out parts finally, will happily swap them on my bike, if I had a chance.

The new colors look nice as well, took them ages though to get the alloys.

Notice that the Continental GT 650 is getting Vresdestein Centauro tyres, that's a big plus. But they're also 18" as the CEATs on the Interceptor 650.

Website also mentions, rear suspension is 'Finely tuned', hope it's improved!

However they've saved the Showa USD forks for a different model, as it requires a lot of hardware changes including the triple clamps, headlight brackets and meter mounts! Lower down the front disc assembly and brake caliper mounts. Note that the SM650 has the disc on the RHS, INT/GT650 has it on the LHS. This makes these new cast alloys backward compatible with the spoked rim 650 twins.

Now all depends on RE to provide enough supplies of Alloys and Tyres available for existing 650 twin owners!

Ride pure,

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

RE has surely got it right regarding the styling. Making the alloys in such a way so that they are backward compatible with existing models was a must. Now comes the part to providing enough spares for existing customers to upgrade if they want to. Knowing RE, that would take a lifetime!

Of course they want to keep the existing customers interested! Huge market, Isn't it? Nice strategy there.

So does all of that mean ceat would be coming out with 18" tubeless tyres as well which isn't available yet?

That backward compatibility especially for alloys is something even I'm a bit apprehensive about. And ofc, provided that new headlamp and alloys are backward compatible, I hope they are prepared for a flood of demand for these accessories.

Thanks for sharing, kaushalswarup! Moving your post out to a new thread. A new thread means 100X the views & 100X the visibility in search engines, including Google.

@ BHPians, if you should spot any good post in an existing thread that deserves its own new thread, please report the post and we'll move it out for greater visibility.

Thank you!

Seems like design is completely inspired.

Thank you so much for creating the thread @GTO.

The bikes do look very good and make for a very interesting purchase now, with the benefit of tubeless tyres.

I reached out to RE on Instagram and Twitter about any info on an Indian release but haven’t received any response from them as of yet.
Hopefully someone on here with contacts with RE can shed some light.

I am hoping for scale model of this edition.
Expecting long wait times for alloys for existing RE twin owners once RE launches these in India.

Re: UK: Royal Enfield 650 twins get alloy wheels, LED headlamp & blacked out bits

This was a much awaited update, and definitely worth consideration. I know men do always demand more, but I wish they could have updated that cockpit too. Those erratic fuel gauges is clumsy. But eventually "Something is better than nothing"
