The update from today revamps the whole ola electric lineup
Ola has just updated S1 Air models range by introducing another variant. Now with a 4.5Kw motor. Given that S1 Air has traditional front suspension and a flat footboard, many might prefer this over S1 and S1pro.
In a way this might be Ola agreeing that there is some issue with their S1 models front suspension. Rather than losing customers looking for higher range it just updated S1 Airs range.
Some observations about today's announcements:- Launching bigger battery options for S1 Air is a welcome move. Those who are OK with low motor power but need a higher range will benefit from this. I feel S1 Air 4kWh variant will be the most popular option.
- It remains to be seen whether the hub motor in S1 Air is powerful enough or not. If it's as good as the hub motor in TVS iQube, it will be great.
- The low-end variants are actually downgraded from earlier options. The base S1 Air had 2.5 kWh but now only comes with a 2 kWh battery. The 3 kWh S1 variant used to be Rs 99K, but now the same variant costs Rs 1.09 lakhs. So, it's actually a price increase. Low-end variants are useless for both models and were just created to get an attractive sticker price.
- The S1 Air deliveries are now pushed to July instead of April. They are also teasing multiple bikes well ahead of the market availability. They should stop these marketing exercises and start unveiling the products closer to production.
A total of 5 bike models are teased at the end of the video. Do these include a cruiser, cafe racer, adventure tourer, scrambler, and naked models?

The update from today revamps the whole ola electric lineup.
Some other points mentioned are:
- 60 cr total KM travelled
- 90% of the premium scooter segments sale are EV
- 200+ ola experience centers
- Initial ola s1 air announced had 2.5kWh battery. Now that variant is replaced with a 3kWh one. The initial bookings done will be changed to this variant for free of cost
- Ola s1 air delivery timelines pushed to July 2023 from March

Ola launches new variants of S1 & S1 Air e-scooters - Posts moved to a new thread.
These ex - showroom prices are very aggressive. That means the direct material cost of these scooters is very, very low.
I wonder what is OLA's profitability per vehicle and how they are managing to keep costs at such a low level and yet making money??

We might see the S1 pro also getting the twin shocks soon. It may be a natural way to fix things permanently and whatever else is happening to the already existing scooters may be fixed by a recall with a stronger arm (or an unofficial recall during a service). I heard a rumour that they have a part for s1 pro that strengthens the front suspension and they will soon issue a recall.
Btw does the ola have a side foot rest - the kind used by ladies who sit sideways? I am in the market for a scooter and I see iqube is the only one having this foot rest among the three (Ola, Ather, Iqube). Unless iam mistaken about Ola.

They all have them now. Not given out of the box, you have to purchase them separately. I would suggest you to check out the S1 Air, but it's delivery is 6 months away. TVS iQube is also good.
so now the only part that is a negative for the ola s1 air is the drum brake setup compared to the front side disc brake in the iqube. Else its a better buy in almost all departments compared to the tvs iqube st.
