re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2022. Edit: It's the Royal Enfield Hunter 350!

My choice is the Hunter. Checked it out and did a short test ride along with my son. I liked what I saw, it is packaged very well.

I voted for Hunter as my mind said. But heart is set at W175. Need to get a TD of it to know if it suits me.

Voted for Hunter 350. It is the most versatile RE on sale right now. An absolute hoot to ride in the city. Handles highway cruising well enough. Looks absolutely smashing. All this coming in at a killer price makes it an irresistible deal for the Indian public and that is absolutely reflected in the number of Hunters I see on the road these days. I almost see as many hunters as I do New Classic 350s and that tells you all about how successful it has been.

re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2022. Edit: It's the Royal Enfield Hunter 350!

Voted for Yezdi Adventure. Disclaimer - I own one so it might be useless for some. But I love it, it is what is lacking sorely in the small ADV market in India. Another bike I liked was the Yezdi Scrambler for starting the scrambler body style segment. Suddenly, RE has a scrambler in the works, interesting! Though they have their finish quality issues, they are still pretty great at a first shot.

Although would have to agree with Hunter being the most popular choice. It's a brilliant product at a tempting price and is already a huge hit. Although I don't like it from a bike POV, I know it's a commercial success and cash cow for RE. I appreciate it from an investor POV.

Unpopular choice would be the Keeway Vieste 300. Remember how every enthusiast complains about the lack of proper big engine moto scooters. Welp, this was it although could be priced better. Launch and marketing seems dead practically.

I had a different view of bikes but after owning one, I realised I like bikes with a bit of character. A bike which is a little imperfect or wants you to ride in a specific way or looks/feels the most unique. These are the bikes which will be fondly remembered in nostalgia.

Last but not the least, Katana for being the quirkiest in the SBK category. Also, a revival of a legendary marque.

re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2022. Edit: It's the Royal Enfield Hunter 350!

Grabbing ~40 % of the votes on this poll, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is the Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2022!

Royal Enfield seems to have hit a home run with the Hunter 350. IMHO- A baby RE to get new people into the brand couldn't have been designed and marketed better - looks, pricing, positioning, just about enough RE character for appeal, lack of the usual RE character (weight, vibes and leaks), youthfulness, etc. With the expanding 650 range, these buyers are likely to be retained within the brand for future upgrades too!

Well done RE! Now looking forward to the Super Meteor 650 and the new Himalayan next year!

Gotta hand it to RE marketing. The most compromised, purposeless bike in their lineup won.

Re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2022. Edit: It's the Royal Enfield Hunter 350!

I have missed the poll but surely i would have voted for RE Hunter - I hate the fact that such vehicles were not produced 5 years back. RE has definitely hit the sweet spot and their efforts will ensure they include 1st time RE users in RE family.

They have really paid attention on engine refinement & vibrations by introducing the same 'J' series engine on this gem of a product.

Recently we have seen many companies like Honda, Benelli, Jawa, TVS & the likes have introduced their products to take a scoop out of RE market share. But this move by RE will make sure that the market share increases rather reduce in the long run...

Excellent product by RE!

I quite didn't get both Compromised and Purposeless parts in your statement. I am not in the market for a bike right now but generally never swayed by marketing as such. I believe people are after Hunter just because it is lighter, looks good enough which is anyway subjective and is on sale at a decent price.

And I am not asking you in a sarcastic way at all. Genuinely interested to know your view point because it completely went over my head.

Re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2022. Edit: It's the Royal Enfield Hunter 350!

This bike will attract a lot of new riders. So, I think the purpose of the bike is clearly to get first time riders ( or be atleast in their initial short lists). People ,who otherwise , would have considered other bikes in same price range and power bracket.
I have a case in my family who is confused between a Ronin and a Hunter.

Apart from a stiff clutch, the bike is really impressive. Hope this gets more footfall into RE showrooms.
Good job RE. I might end up booking one too.
Cheers

Well, to understand that, you will need to realise what the purpose of the RE Hunter is. It is supposed to be a city slicker RE.
1. I don't think a city bike should weigh 181 kgs.
2. The clutch is heavy in general (i felt it was heavier than the classic but it might just be that particular model). Again, not a city bike feature.
3. Harsh suspension, especially rear shocks. Again, not a city clicker feature. In fact, the chassis is pretty good for a sportster. The j series 350cc engine is pathetic for that.
4. Disastrous brakes for a bike that heavy. With our amazing jay-walkers, don't even need to tell you this one.
5. Accessory list actually makes it touring friendly instead of a better commuter.

In my opinion, it is a poor everything. Classic 350 has way more charisma. Meteor has lot more comfort and touring capability. And the city riding experience between the hunter and classic 350 is barely there. I preferred the comfort of classic way more.

The only advantage hunter has, is 17 inch wheels and being cheap. But it doesn't overwrite it being severely compromised for its purpose. It says one thing but does the other. The cocktail just doesn't merge well. Hence compromised and purposeless as a bike.
Coz the only purpose it was for is to boost sales. And right now Indians will gobble up everything RE cooks up. Sadly, RE doesn't always have good bikes like the new classic 350. It is taking massive dumps like the hunter and scram and laughing it's way to the bank. Hopefully, Himalayan 450 will amend this trend.

Isn't that the purpose of any non-exotic bike?

I loved what this bike offers. Interestingly, I thought if this had a CVT box, wouldn't this make an even greater city moto-scooter??
