Trustworthy used 2-wheeler dealers in Bangalore

Hey Bhpians,

It's a very very very important request.

I have lost hope with all of the second hand 2 wheeler dealers in Bangalore. Not sure whom to trust. Almost everyone is turning out to be a ruthless business man with zero ethics. All they do is polish the bikes and scooters and pack it off to buyers who are very badly in need of a proper commute vehicle with which they'll fulfill their daily needs, only to find that they've been handed over polished and painted junk in the form of 2 wheelers.

Can anyone here kindly help out with a trustworthy secondhand 2 wheeler dealer in Bangalore?

Thanks in advance

Why don't you look for private sellers on platforms like OLX? That's the best way to avoid dealers.

That said, I have seen good vehicles from bad dealers & bad used cars from good dealers. The dealer has nothing to do with the vehicle's condition or history (the previous owner did).

Dunno about other cities, but there are no trustworthy secondhand dealers I have come across in Bangalore. All of them are ruthless crooks who just want a fast deal.

Like you said bikes are washed and polished and kept shiny. Tyres are bald and there is no info on the service history or last oil change. It is an unorganized sector unlike cars where there is some accountability.

The dealers are looking at quick turnaround. It is a matter of pure luck to find a good bike at these dealers. They do not even agree for you to get it checked from a trusted mechanic. It is either take it or leave it.

I will add to what GTO said - first identify a mechanic you can trust, even if you have to go through friends. Alternately, have a friend who knows bikes.

Regarding agents, it is not often that one has a friend/well known person to help you with purchases.

What you are asking is very valid. About 4 years back, a friend was looking for a two wheeler and we ended up at the used 2-wheeler market near VV puram. We had gone with an agent who I know, and saw first hand the bad quality or high prices of vehicles there. However, we did find one at a good price. I dont turst agents, and after that experience definitely not the ones I dont know personally.

Summarising, I would suggest you try what I have said in the first part of my post.

This is what I observed regarding car dealers as well. It is a very well organized mafia in Bangalore. Regarding two wheelers I do not expect it to be any different.

You did not mention what exactly is your requirement, what kind of bike you are looking for (daily driver, weekend toy?, engine cc, etc). Best bet is to keep looking at team bhp classifieds or OLX and take a knowledgeable person along with you.

Re: Trustworthy used 2-wheeler dealers in Bangalore

I think I can help you here by sharing my experience as I have ended up buying and selling 4 two-wheelers in past 7 years during my stay in Bangalore. I shifted here from Mumbai in 2015 and was looking for a used two wheeler for short commutes. One of my friends recommended I check out Tilak Nagar market for cheap buys but warned me about dubious paperwork. I ended up picking up a beaten down Kinetic Honda for around 7K and ended up selling it back for 2K after riding it for a couple of months. It was in pathetic condition but paper work seemed to be okay. I did not initiate a transfer of ownership as it would have cost me almost 3K for that. I ended up buying an Apache RTR 160 from Sagar Auto in the same area for around 34k with a promise that paperwork will be done within a couple of weeks, even after 2 years the ownership change was not done as the dealer on one pretext or other kept of delaying things. I gave up following up as I moved to a different location and one fine day ended up losing my bike, impounded by police during a late night check. The policeman was more interested in making a quick buck than actual checking of docs. I went to the dealer and he flatly refused to help me saying the docs were not his responsibility as it had been a while. I ended up buying a used Honda Aviator from CredR for 25K and though the price was high, they ensure all paperwork happened within a couple of weeks and ownership was transferred and I received RC within 40 days as promised. I also ended up buying my friends almost new RE Classic 500 and the transfer of documents was done through an RTO agent for 2.5K without much hassles. I ended up selling off my Aviator to a friend and CredR helped me with ownership transfer for a 2k fee.

Long story short, I would recommend companies like BeepKart and CredR as they generally have hassle free experience but you end up paying a fairly high premium. Also to mention, prices of used bikes and scooters have gone through the roof in recent times and it makes more sense buying new ones as most scooters I recently saw were selling closer to their brand new price when they were initially bought. Saw several Scooty Peps in yellow color being sold for around 50K for 2019 model, most Activa scooters are being sold for around 55 - 70 K. Seems there is a huge demand with prices of newer BS6 two wheelers going up exponentially.
