According to media reports, the transaction is expected to be finalized in Q1 2023. Mahindra will remain a co-shareholder.

Peugeot Motorcycles manufactures two and three-wheeler scooters at its Mandeure factory in France. The company has around 3,000 touchpoints across three continents and generates revenues of approximately 140 million euros.

Re: Mutares to acquire Mahindra-owned Peugeot Motorcycles

Evidently Mahindra's two wheeler forays are not sparkling their balance sheets. They took either the acquisition route (Kinetic Engineering) or had relaunched an established brand (Jawa) or had bought a controlling equity stake of another established brand (Peugeot).

As their Executive Director, Auto & Farm Sectors, M&M, Mr R. Jejurikar has said, “ Our efforts are directed towards sustaining this French legacy brand that has been delighting customers for 124 years.” Had this French legacy brand been sustainable for M&M, they would have not divested equity to Mutares SE.

The Mahindra two wheelers manufactured in their factory in Pithampur near Indore M. P. and the Jawas also being manufactured at the same factory are giving M&M enough insomnia and restless nights. The Ssangyong losses and unviability compound their distresses.

The reasons for the equity dilution by M&M in Peugeot Motorcycles will be clear in the next few days. Apart from their official statement about "sustaining this French legacy brand" there could surely be hidden realities.

Re: Mutares to acquire Mahindra-owned Peugeot Motorcycles

Mahindra better stick to what is their USP. Large diesel cars / SUV's.

Most of their acquired products have not fructified for them, starting from Reva, Ssangyong, etc. Their 2 wheeler foray has also not been successful.

Hope they made some money on it. I think one more factor would be that global outlook for 2023 is not that good. So better sell before it becomes bad.
