| The new Ather 450X comes home | Ownership Review The story is short but the purchase explanation is elaborated so that you know how long to wait between phases of the purchase and what mistakes not to make to fasten the process of delivery.
Prologue Hi all, hope you are doing well. A small journey of getting Ather home for my wife. For the most, it may not be a great achievement story as such, but it is a good one for her. What moped?
So, it boiled down to S1 Pro vs Ather 450X Plus. Last edited by sangam_mm93 : 12th December 2022 at 18:02. |

| Booking to Scheduling Delivery! After a few days, mostly in September, I called the SA1 numerous times on different days. No response at all. At times he/she disconnected my call too. I got fed up and called up the customer care folks, they were better than the SA1 who I wanted to contact. They said all I can do is wait. Pulling strings did not help either. So, I kept waiting. October 7th - Vehicle allotted and Loan application I got a WhatsApp message from SA1 as follows.October 11th - Realised about False Loan application Since I did not get any call for the loan, I called the SA1 to get ghosted and I call up customer care again.October 12th - True Loan and Documentation On 12th October I went to Ather, I met this new SA [let's call her SA2] Indiranagar, and submitted all documents such as the last 3 months' payslips, bank statements, address proof, Aadhaar and Pan card.October 15th - Down payment SA2 was better than SA1, did not ghost me as much as S1. LOL. She calls me up and asks to do the down payment this day.October 18th - Loan Approved ECS Mandate and Insurance SA2 herself called me and told me the loan was approved and asked me to sign an ECS Mandate via a link she had sent on WhatsApp. It said the EMI starts on 3rd November. I was prepared to pay the EMI before I get the vehicle. LOLOctober 25th - No Progress This is what my concern was. Nobody had any idea where the vehicle is. The poor SA2 is available but helpless, she had to check with her peers or seniors just to tell me that even they cannot answer.October 31st - RTO Registration Initiation and I can track the scooter on the app. After 5 days the insurance has been fed to the Ather folks and registration is yet to be initiated.November 2nd - Actual RTO Registration Initiation I got a call from another Ather employee [Let's call him RTO1] who asked me to visit the Ather showroom for a couple of signatures that are needed to proceed with the registration.November 10th - Still in Registration Initiation By now I followed up with SA2 a few times, she had no idea what was happening or rather why nothing was happening with my Ather.November 11th - Escalation Worked and RTO verification! I got a call from another RTO employee [Call her RTO2]for the OTP for verifying the registration, she said it is 8K extra for a special number plus could be delayed by 2 more days than random allotment.November 14th - RTO Fame subsidy verification I get an OTP for FAME India -II, but nobody calls me for an hour or so. So, I call the SA2, and in turn, she asked me to call the Ather RTO team.November 15th - Delivery Scheduling I did not wake up and start calling anyone today because I knew it was very close to being delivered. I just hoped it's a day or 2. The status was updated on the site though.November 16th - Call for Delivery Scheduling Just like I expected, the call came from Ather customer care, they asked me if I was ready for the delivery. He said I could have picked on this day itself, but after talking to the family and checking the day and Guli kaala, we decided we will get it on 17th Nov morning at 1030 AM. | November 17th - The happy day! Dear Lord! you all know how exciting vehicle delivery days are.So it was overall an OK experience with Ather between July 20 and November 17. If they had told me that the scooter came on the 10th of November and was delivered to me on the 17th of November I would not have minded. It is the not-knowing-anything painful gap that they gave between allotment and delivery that was bad. Ather is a good product sold by a not-so-good team with the worst possible process. I hope they fix this soon. Quality is the only USP they have. With Ola Air, Simple, Navida etc coming around, it will become more difficult for Ather. | IMO, in a way Ather is another VAG, Good product in a bad environment ! I never knew Ather has so many issues, most are simple ones but unattended because of incompetent staff. I had read nkrishnap's thread (Ather 450X comes home to cut fuel costs) about the dealership issue but never knew it was this bad. I do not see such issues surfacing on Google or any social media reviews. It is all on the Ather Forum if you want to dig more. I do not see how Ather will get away with this with new players coming in with better range and quicker delivery dates. esp the likes of Vida by Hero and Ola Air etc. I am very happy with the scooter, yet I am nitpicking because you should know what the facts are; even though it is as small as the Bluetooth not working. | My observations Most of you have already read nkrishnap's thread (Ather 450X comes home to cut fuel costs), Hemanth's thread (An 'e-motion'al connect - My Ather 450) and WhiskeyTangoFox's thread (Ather 450 Plus Detailed Review)for pros, cons, features etc. They have covered most bits, I will just reflect on some of them and add mine. The Good
The Bad
Random points
That is all I have for now folks, thank you Last edited by sangam_mm93 : 12th December 2022 at 17:54. |

| Re: The new Ather 450X comes home | Ownership Review Welcome to the family of Ather. I can vouch for this scooter. Got it a year ago and had no issues at all till date. Here are a few tips: 1. Forget about maps. Even Apple Maps on my phone sending directions and pulses to watch is far better than the map and directions you get on that dashboard. I forgot that there is a maps feature. 2. Beware of night battery drain. You lose atleast 5% every night. 3. Scooter is unbelievably stable and brakes so well. It may give you a sense of 'I can go faster' but be very careful. Those are still very small tyres for panic braking. 4. You will get loud noise from belt when the scooter gets wet. It will go off as the belt starts to dry up. 5. The rear mudguard is not perfect. You will see mud splashing (not heavy) towards the rear part of the seat and on the grab handle. If is better that pillion riders cover their back (jacket etc) if you are going through wet/mud roads. Some complained really bad splashing where even driver's shirt got ruined. 6. Smart Eco is useless. The power deliver goes off so bad taht you will turn it off. Ride mode is the best in all conditions. 7. If you give sudden acceleration in Warp mode, warn pillion rider to hold on to you. He/she may fall off if you do very sudden acceleration in warp mode. |

Also sad to hear about the poor delivery experience. Thanks for highlighting these. Ather is the only eScooter I would seriously consider, I think their product is great. Hope they get these issues sorted out. Also hope eScooter manufacturers get together and standardize charging connectors so any grid can be used for any eScooter. Will go a long way to pushing EV adoption.

I guess with increased volume, they are not able to handle things in time now. For me payment to delivery took only 5 days. (I had asked when the stock would come and only paid couple of days before the Indiranagar showroom gets the stock, they used to get twice a month that time in August). Also for signature they used to send people (even in September when my friend bought, they sent someone for signature).

| Re: The new Ather 450X comes home | Ownership Review Amazing write up! Welcome to the E-family. I own an OLA S1pro & my journey was full of hiccups too, I guess that’s the price we pay for being early adopters. Ather is surely a well put together product compared to Ola, but with the price & range I just felt Ola a more VFM package. Wish you many more happy E miles You can watch about my experience while purchasing Ola here: |

| Re: The new Ather 450X comes home | Ownership Review Expecting my 450X in a day or two. I agree with the communication part from the dealer. Wife had tcouple of times after I asked her to. Since its not very urgent didnt bother much about the delay. Bought it at JP Nagar and the first salesperson who took the booking seemed too dull. They dont seem to sell the scooter. Asked for a different salesman the second time we went to sign documents and pay. |

| Re: The new Ather 450X comes home | Ownership Review I actually had a very very good experience with sales in JP Nagara Ather showroom. I wanted to get the scooter for wife's birthday. The sales executive made sure that the scooter is delivered on that exact day (a good two weeks ahead of scheduled delivery). Just that the charger was not available and in two weeks time, I got the charger delivered. |

| Re: The new Ather 450X comes home | Ownership Review I am currently staying at Coimbatore and recently bought an Ather for my wife. I booked online after paying the booking amount and went to the showroom for purchase. The experience at the dealership was really bad. The sales team's response was very cold and they were only able to show the product and couldn't follow up with me once I completed the loan process. Bank guy was more enthusiastic than the sales guys! When all dealers try to push the customer to purchase accessories, these guys forgot to fix the side step which I asked them to fix before delivery. I have driven the vehicle for around 100kms now and I feel the major issue is the mud splash from rear and I had to purchase another mud guard for resolving this issue. |
