Even the interceptor gets minimal body work, honestly. It's apparently only 2kgs lighter than inty according to Autocar

Re: Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler spied. Edit: To be called Interceptor Bear 650

RR unit moved to the front where it can be cooled down. So RE knew that it is an issue on the GT and Inty. Probably they have done the same on the 2025 Inty too.

Edit: It is because of this -

The increase in torque figure is probably also because of the 2x1 exhaust system this has.

Dear manufacturers,

It's 2024. Please evolve with the times and provide tubeless spokes.

Sincerely,
Anyone who has faced a puncture on a tubed tyre bike.

Can we be done with this whole "authentic retro" reasoning? There are other tasteful things which can be done instead of skimping out on such useful features.

Re: Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler spied. Edit: To be called Interceptor Bear 650

The US website is up with all the specs, prices and most importantly the color options.

Source sub reddit r/indianbikes

No tubeless option and no center stand

Re: Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler spied. Edit: To be called Interceptor Bear 650

So the US prices are out and there is $650 difference between the base models of Interceptor and Bear 650, this should translate to approx 40k difference in India.

Suspension and riding dynamics should be better than interceptor and RE's new age colour options are also coming out nicely on this model as compared to Guerrilla. Can't wait to test ride it!!

As per a video I just saw on youtube, the tyres seem to be tubeless but not the rim:

So we can change the rim or use the tubeless conversion kit ( like many did on the himalayan before RE came out with the tubeless rim )

Some video also mentioned that RE is working on tubeless rim option for future. I know they will have an option because the future himalayan 750/650 will have the exact same size rims ( 19x17 ), but hope RE brings tubeless option soon.
With the bear, i was hoping to atleast see alloy wheels ( like int650 ) because this is not a serious offroader and I dont expect anyone to try hardcore offroading on this 200 KG bike that requires a spoked rim. With these color schemes showcased, they are not even going for classic/retro looks, they are trying to showcase these bikes as a more fun/young option, so a black alloy would have done the job perfectly.

Re: Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler spied. Edit: To be called Interceptor Bear 650

So what's the story with RE and their scramblers having flashy paint on the frame? Heritage?

Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler spied. Edit: To be called Interceptor Bear 650-bullettrials3502019royalenfieldbullettrialslaunchridereview-1.jpeg

This is the Bullet Trials, was available with red color for the frame as well. That's how it was differentiated I believe, 350 got the red, 500 had this green.

And this is the Two Four Nine paint scheme for the Bear 650.

Not complaining though, it looks pretty good.
I find the white paint scheme with blue seats quite appealing.

Manufacturers just dont bother researching what people actually do with their bikes. Who is going to take this overweight pig on a trail? Why not at least offer an alloy option?

If I was intending to do some trail riding, a Triumph 400X is a 100x better option. Or a KTM 390ADV and guess what wheels they both have?

I remember crying myself hoarse about this on every Interceptor comment I'd made in 2018-19 when it was released before I gave up and looked elsewhere- took them a whole 6 years to bring out an alloy option, and even that is only on two colorways.

It's strange how only RE (outside of maybe only the T100/T120) feels that spoked tubed wheels are the way to go for that so-called retro look. A retro bike which now has a very visible TFT dash and LED headlights.

Just give us options when literally everyone else has an alloy variant. And this isn't just empty whining because we have access to keyboards- tubed wheels are fundamentally dangerous and a royal pain if something happens, which on Indian roads they can often. A blowout on a bike at triple digit speeds can potentially be fatal. Your retro looks will be on your picture frame in the ICU.

And that is precisely what happened. A Triumph Scrambler 400X.

I love the 650 engine and wanted my interceptor to have some off road capabilities. Something like a Scrambler, and that is what i tried modifying my interceptor into. Altered front and rear suspension, handlebar, footpegs, raised GC, modified the seat, reduced weight with light weight pipes. I even got my bike converted to tubeless.

But we can do only so much with the modifications. Interceptor frame, ergonomics, suspension, and weight are some of the critical issues which come in the way. Bike is a beast to manage offroad with our limited skills and strength.

Eventually i got the Triumph Scrambler 400X and this is much better suited for such rides. Now the interceptor is collecting dust in the garage and would soon be putup for sale.

I would be verymuch interested in the Bear 650, but not anymore as i have the 400X and pretty happy with it.

I thought the post was going in one direction and it went the other way!

I'm not much of a trail rider, but on the trails that I had been on, there were 3 main things that I realised were important
- Weight , the lighter the better
- Seat Height - there is nothing that provides confidence more than being able to gain a secure footing, if you don't get it, then #1 becomes all important
- Ground clearance to avoid banging the chassis and sensitive parts

As far as the scrambler is concerned, I do have a problem with #2 but it is largely handled by the fact that it is light enough for it to mostly not matter. It's probably the ideal vehicle to take on trails currently available in India IMHO.

Re: Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler spied. Edit: To be called Interceptor Bear 650

It's not really meant to go offroad. The Int and GT are lifestyle bikes. They are not utilitarian tools. They are not good at anything specific, they make the rider feel cool for a while and offer a great twin cyl experience. I don't mind this myself, as an Int owner.

The 350s and 450s are the utilitarian bikes.

Re: Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler spied. Edit: To be called Interceptor Bear 650

I’m hoping RE does pull something out of its hat on Tuesday and offers the option of alloys. If it does, I’ll probably book this at Motoverse where I hope they will offer test rides
