I would like to share the fraud that happened with my Uncle who is 70 years old by Go Digit General Insurance Ltd.

VEHICLE NO.: PB08EU6951
VEHICLE DETAILS: ACTIVA 125CC WITH FRONT DISK AND REAR DRUM, ALLOY WHEELS.

My Uncle who was settled in Australia came back to INDIA after covid and bought the New Honda Activa 125 CC on 20th Oct 2021 for local travel only.

Honda dealer was in tie-up with the Go Digit insurance only and to avoid any future claim problems my Uncle bought the same insurance with Dap cap and other add-ons on the premium quoted by the dealer.

On 22 Aug 2022, he was traveling when someone hit him and he fell down.
There were no injuries with God's grace but the Activa was damaged.

Damaged parts: Panel, Rim, Fender, Handle-T.


He came back and he filed the insurance claim with the dealer. The dealer updated that the claim was refused by the insurance.

The claim was then raised again with the Go Digit insurance company by him.
The claim was again refused by the surveyor.

Then my uncle approached me. I had a word with the Surveyor Mr. Daman who approved the 3 parts after having word with me only and the rim was rejected.

I had a word with Mr. Daman and also Mr. Lalit regarding the claim, Both of them were not able to satisfy me that why the claim is refused. My uncle was asked to pay approx 10k INR.

Someone from honda informed me that this is normal practice by GO Digit insurance with the senior citizens and also when they come to know that there is no one in INDIA from immediate family. Go Digit will always reject the claim with some excuse.

GO Digit Insurance company is paying heavily for advertisements, but there is zero customer support.

Mr. Lalit who is a senior member was not taking our calls afterward and was rejecting the calls with automated msgs. ( I have all the proofs)

Mr. Daman told me that he is just following the orders and everything is monitored by Mr. Lalit only.

Please advise what can be done further by my uncle for the claim, thanks in advance.

Only way is consumer forum. A person I know was part of a district level panel of consumer forum. After Covid, they are flooded with complaints related to general insurance companies. They had delivered judgement in favor of customer in very good number of cases. Its kind of strategy adopted by these companies (which even includes TPAs of GIC affiliated govt companies).

Many thanks, will definitely drop them a message. When the people like Mr. Lalit on senior levels follow the wrong practice, I seriously doubt if Go digit will help us in this. We will contact them again before we file the case in the consumer forum.

You are right, someone at the service center informed us that GO-Digit is also rejecting all the claims, especially with senior citizens and people with less knowledge.
It's better to go with reputable companies on slightly more premium than the cheap new companies that will always come up with a loophole and reason to reject your claim no matter how many add-ons you have bought.

The surveyor directly told us "You can do whatever you want, we will never pass the claim".
Mr. Lalit told us the same and then afterward never picked up our call.

We feel like we are dealing with some Mafia company.

The claim settlement ratio of Go-Digit is also poor here when compared to other companies.

Actually newer companies like Go-Digit and Acko have somewhat batter overall experience in recent times compared to established ones. All established ones including Govt owned have same issues.

This is completely believable, and have read similar stories online - especially about GoDigit.

IMO E-mail the insurance ombudsman with all the information you have, if nothing comes off of that within a reasonable period of time, only then file a petition with the state consumer redressal forum.

After this Scam, we were exploring GO-DIGIT and found a lot of claim rejections on Team-BHP and a lot more on Twitter/Facebook.

It's Sad that we guys fell into the trap of these new players who don't care for the customers and there is nothing called customer support.
The saddest part is that guys like Mr. Lalit treat the customers badly.
I have approached them on Facebook as well as customer care but all in vain.
Looks like they don't care for anything and the person on the other side disconnected my call thrice which was connected after 20 mins of waiting.

Thanks for sharing your uncle's experience, I bought a Activa recently & dealer insured it with GoDigit.
Will change over to some other reliable Insurance co. in the next yearly renewal.

Same year, have informed all my close ones to not deal with go digit insurance at any cost.We are a joint family with over nine cars and seven two wheelers.
Hope fully go digit mends its ways and punishes people like lalit for being adamant rather then helping a customer in need.

Agree. Based on the thread below, I took my business to another insurer when I renewed my Scorpio's and Apache's insurance this year. It may be a drop in the ocean, but I hope every little bit will help in hitting GoDigit where it hurts most. Also, like you, have advised my friends and acquaintances to be wary of buying any sort of insurance from these guys.

I am in the market for a bike and have almost settled on an Xpulse.
The local Hero showroom told me GoDigit was their tie up for insurance.
Will ask the showroom for other insurance options or buy it outside.

I feel really bad with what happened with your uncle. Same thing happened with my neighbor while he was involved in a car accident i told him to raise a complaint on their website and when they call back tell them i am gonna file a case against you in the consumer court after hearing this most probably they will solve your problem.

Please raise a complaint with the insurance ombudsman . Share your details and attach all documentary evidences including your conversations.

I would also recommend you ask the below.

1. Compensation of rs 1 lakh for the mental agony and distress and time lost.

2. Cancellation of license to go digit as this seems to be an wide spread issue . You can link this discussion as well as other threads.

Escalate the matter so that the company has nowhere to hide and they think twice before indulging in malpractice

All manufacturers will have tie up with at least one PSU insurance company. If that option is available insure with them only. At least they will not fraud you

Never knew GoDigit was following such malpractices. I had bought insurance from them twice as they offer really cheap quotations. Bought insurance for my old scooty Pep which got sold yesterday.
