Re: My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience

Air filter update:

Amazon agreed to take back the Schorl air filter and refund the amount despite this being done outside the return period window. That's amazing service for Amazon, the defective product was just picked up today.

Yesterday I dropped in to BikeNBiker and installed the NGage airfiler and the Ngage stage 2 plate. This is a genuine high quality product. The filter requires oiling and I will most likely buy the cleaning and oiling kit from the Ngage website. This needs to be done every 8k-10k kms. The stage 2 plate is made of stainless steel or aluminum and is a high quality product again. For the price of 4k with the stage 2 plate i am very happy with the quality of the product and its performance so far. The BMC and K&N air filters cost more than double price. Ngage also owns the MotoWings brands. This is the website for the product. It includes a maintenance document and a Dyno chart.

https://ngagepowerparts.com/index.ph...product_id=665

If you are looking for a dry filter i would suggest the one from Way2Speed.

Attaching some pictures of the Ngage, the well-built stock filter and the extremely poor-quality defective filter from Schorl for your reference. I tagging them on Instagram too but have yet to hear back from them. Seems like the owners of Schorl do not care about customer satisfaction or their brand. Thankfully Amazon is offering me a full refund.

Stock Filter - Rs 375 for the RE air filter for the Interceptor . High quality product, full metal body, foam inserts and well finished metal joints. Right now being used a pen stand.

The guys at BikeNBiker suggested i install the stage 2 plate and not worry about water ingress in the rains. They said Himalayan's have this issue not the 650s. So that's how it is running and the stage 2 Ngage air filter in combination with the Powerage short slip ons and the Fuel X Pro has transformed the bike. Blip the throttle and the exhaust barks and the motorcycle is flying - accelerates to 100 much quicker and with the Fuel X Pro on the 8th to 9th setting I feel the torque has increased, it sounds better, runs quicker and cooler. Overall, I am now super satisfied with the performance of the Ceptor. I think I am going to need replacement brake pads soon with how fast the bike has become. It is not frantic just louded and faster - more character and I love it.

Next mods would be the Powerage big bore headers and then probably suspension and tyres in slow progression.

Re: My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience

Took my better half as pillion on the Interceptor yesterday on a hunt for the iPhone 15.

I can confirm that the FuelX Pro has bumped up low end torque, the motor runs smoothers and feels less strained. I was pulling up on inclines in 2nd and 3rd gear with my wife as pillion at around 2k rpm and there was no knocking, the motor didn't feel strained and it was pretty much effortless. The slightly snatchy throttle at lower revs has gone away. I was running it on the 8th level yesterday.

And for my speeding shenanigans when I'm riding solo the FuelX with the combination of the slip ons and the Ngage stage II air filter helps the motor keep building power as the revs climb.

The difference with the Fuel X pro is hard to quantify in numbers, it is more of a seat of the pants feel that needs to be experienced in different situations to understand its benefits. I havn't noticed a drop in milage either because it is probably miniscule. I havn't done a long ride yet after the new mods but I am sure the motorcycle will feel alot more in its element now, blasting down the highway.

Will plan a road trip soon. Happy riding!

Re: My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience

Finally managed to make it for a short sub 200 km ride with the Interceptor after the mods of the slip-on, stage 2 air filter and fuel x pro.

Road with a bunch of friends, some old and some new to Woody's in Kolar. There were a bunch of imports throughout our journey there and then at restaurant

My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience-whatsapp-image-20231001-12.29.25-pm.jpeg

The roads were great and the Interceptor was flying.

I managed to hit a top speed of 150 kmph without too much effort.

The bike feels alot more eager to rev, 100-120 kmph comes up pretty quickly.

It feels like it is breathing better now, revs quicker, feels derestricted compared to stock. On the stock setup 100 was easy but after that it took time to build speed, now 120 feels like 100 and its still got more to give. Over-all I'm super pleased with the way the Ceptor rides now. It feels like a totally different bike in terms of power, throttle response and exhaust note.

I feel like all the mods have come together well, the visor, the handle bar risers, the seat, the tubeless conversion and the performance mods.

I was running the bike on level 8 on the Fuel X, however when we came back into town and I stood behind the bike to record a video of the exhaust note while I asked a friend to rev the bike I could smell fuel - I guess that means its too rich. I have dropped it to Level 7 for now. Might need to do a plug chop to see if its running too rich but for now it feels great.

I feel I might need to overhaul the brakes, with the increased power and throttle response I feel the need for sharper braking and my current setup that I have been running from 2020 seems to be losing bite.

Despite the increased power, my riding style hasn't really changed. I still stick to about 100 kmph for the most part on the highway, get spell bound by the sight of the clouds and flowers and frequently stop to take pictures.

After crossing a horrendous traffic jam in KR Puram we headed straight to Toit in Indiranagar for some snacks and few cold ones while we waited for our friend to charge his Ultraviolet that ran out of charge just after the KR Puram bridge after which it was towed by the Meteor
(RE to the rescue lol) and dropped off at their showroom that they call a Hanger on the intermediate ring road to be recharged. There was supposed to be a meet and greet with Sagar Sheldekar which we were planning to attend after wrapping up at Toit but when we reached there to collect the UV, we were told the event was cancelled since someone who was given a UV to test ride crashed just up the road and died on the spot.

That news kind of took me aback as I wanted to ride my friend's UV after it was charged, but then again I road it anyway, can't blame a motorcyclist can you? The UV was pretty quick - tops out at 150 kmph, no gears, no clutch, no exhaust note. Just hold the horn and hope people get out of the way, the brakes were strong and should be because there isn't any engine braking. its got 3 levels of regen, about 180 kmph of real world range and costs around 5 lakhs. Double the range of the OLA but still a bit of a novelty. It makes power in a different way compared to ICE motorcycles but that was expected. My last mind blowing experience with an EV was driving a friends Nexon EV Max. This was didn't push me back in the seat or pin by neck back, the torque was electric and the brakes were phenomenal. From what i understood the bike does weight a bit and when you tip it over in a corner, it immediately scrapes footpegs and wants to lean it because of the weight, i guess that might have caught that unlucky test rider unaware.

My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience-whatsapp-image-20231001-12.29.28-pm.jpeg

I also managed to finally pick up an action camera. Got a great deal on a barely used GoPro 9 Black and I've already ordered a bunch of accessories. I've got a good setup for Moto-vlogging now on both helmets (one for long rides and another that I use to commute). With this I can now finally get my YouTube channel active, shoot vlogs and moto vlogs, something that I have wanted to do for a while now. Exciting times ahead!

The filter is pretty good on power with a BMC I would say. No issues so far. I have also bought the recharge kit, yet to use it.

If you are looking for a dry air filter with higher flow I believe the Way2Speed filter is the one to get.

Also an update on the bike:

I've got the Way2Speed front suspension kit on the Interceptor 650.

Ride quality on the front has improved drastically.

The rear is stock and on its softest setting so the ride is soft and plush for now. But it does need improvement. Looking for options here. Might go with the Way2Speed springs for the rear. My requirement is for the rear to not transfer sharp jerks to my back and for it to improve the handling of the motorcycle which I feel currently handles like a boat.

The improvement on the front end with the Way2Speed kit leads it to not sink into potholes and I don't have to struggle with maneuvering the bike like I used to earlier. It soaks up bumps and inspires more confidence.

The tires also will need replacement soon, thinking of getting the Vredesteins.

I am also contemplating putting on the alloy wheels. I am currently running the stock aluminium spokes rims with a Way2Speed tubeless kit.

Re: My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience

I recently installed FuelX Pro+ along with NG airfilter on my shotgun 650

I feel absolutely no performance boost or it’s not very noticeable during regular rides. Perhaps it’s more suited for specific use cases or riding conditions.

I feel that i wasted my money and my strong advice to everyone is not to install it. To actually see if there are some performane improvements in numbers i purchased a OBD cable and scanner, the data that i took from bike in all riding modes of FuleX Pro+ were exactly same, there was not even slightest improvement. I tried talking to Fuel X guys but did not hear any satisfactory answer. In My opinion this performance upgrade is completely useless and doesnot work.
The engine still heats up same
I have to use gears in traffic as usual only.
And throttle improvement is zero.
The performance in mode 3 which is stock performance and mode 10 are exactly same.

It sounds as though the FuelX is not working probably because it is defective or it has something to to with the installation.

FuelX Pro+ as I understand has some performance gain as well compared to the FuelX Pro. It does make a noticeable difference when working. I have the FuelX Pro on my Interceptor and it does make a difference between the modes.

I suggest getting back to Race Dynamics and push them for a replacement or before that, try a re-installation.

Re: My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience

I spoke with the Race Dynamics team and shared the requested videos. According to them, the device is not defective, and the LEDs are functioning as expected.

I have the Motoverse edition of the Shotgun, so I suspect either my ECU is programmed differently, or the FuelX unit isn’t working correctly—something seems off.

The installation was handled by the Race Dynamics team themselves.

Do you know of any place where I can get Dynamo testing done? Perhaps the figures from that test would provide clearer insights.

A dyno wouldn't really provide much insight as the FuelX doesn't affect any performance characteristics. The power and torque curves are unaffected. It is only ever needed if the bike is jerky at low rpms or you ride at high altitudes.

According to Racedynamics themselves "FuelX is controlling AFR only in closed-loop. In open-loop region, there is no feedback from the Lambda sensor." So, I don't know how much you were expecting from FuelX but to me this is more of expecting something it cannot do.

Re: My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience

Now i tested it in more details, purchsed obd sensor and made few of my own python codes and pulled data from sensor, then i plotted graphs and here are observations.

Ovearall conclusiong is that FuelX pro+ doesnot work at all, what they said was that i will get 25% increase in torque and throttle response etc....
My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience-rpmtorque.jpg

fromt this graph its clear that in all modes other than mode 0 have similar power figures at different RPM's

My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience-powervsrpm.jpg
From power graph vs RPM if we only compare mode 3 (Stock mode) and mode 10 ( highest level one) ther is only little improvement above 4500 RPM and that means you have to ride abopve 110 KM/hr to feel any difference
Below is speed graph at differnt RPM's
My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience-speedvsrpm.jpg

Either Powertronics guys did not do much of research for Shotgun 650 and directly selling interceptor 650 device
or
My device is defective
or
some unknow reason that i am not able to figure out

Separate to the increases they claim. Something isn't right here. >160nm and 60kW! How is that possible? Or the data that its spitting out is garbage.

Re: My Royal Enfield Interceptor Mark III BS6 Ownership Experience

Overall Fueld X pro+ or other variants of it are useless, i got personally dynamo testing done and it just changes the throttle behaviour.
I am planning to file a formal legal complain against race dyanamics about there claims of increse in BHP etc.

Thank you. I saved decent money because of your post. I was oscillating with the idea to get the fuel X pro+ for some time now. Now I will not.
