Re: TVS Ronin launched @ Rs. 1.49 lakh

Looks very interesting and unique. Love the black and grey colour combo. Yamaha should have brought the XSR. Instead they gave the FZX, which looks absolutely horrible.
A great alternative to Honda CB350rs. Weighs less too. Perfect for commuting. Heard the engine is a reworked unit from rtr 200. So not an all new one. So should be fairly reliable.

If you are correct then it should be ok. Saw a couple of videos, the instrument pod looks out of place like a sore thumb

The chain cover is the most practical thing in the bike since you won’t have to clean/lube the chain much as it won’t get dirty. Cleaning the cover will be dead easy. Speaking from experience with the RX 100 which came with a chain cover back in the day.

Cheers

The presentation referred to CB twins and RE Meteor. If I was considering those bikes, I will surely consider Ronin as well.
Chain cover means you don't have to clean and lube every week. Earlier even CBZ and Karizma used to come with chain cover. The current fashion of naked chains looks sporty, but requires more maintenance and reduced life. Also saves cost for manufacturers and more revenue for service centers.

Please check the brochure and presentation, both mention it as riding modes and not ABS modes. Test drive videos will come out on Monday and it would be confirmed then.

May be they can offer a smart looking round phone mount (with angular adjustment) as an official accessory to complete the look.

Re: TVS Ronin launched @ Rs. 1.49 lakh

The rear design is what ruins it for the Ronin. It does not look retro, it looks old and outdated. Its the same problem with the Yamaha's FZ based retro contraption.

More than the engine configuration being average, this to me looks like the bigger problem for the new TVS motorcycle.

Only the Honda CB350R & RS have managed to get the rear styling right.

If that rear mudguard is removed, it will look stunning. The grabrail should go too

Re: TVS Ronin launched @ Rs. 1.49 lakh

Good product positioning.

All bike manufacturers now paint the fork with yellow, following a BMW design. IMO, the single digital cluster looks bit awkward.

Re: TVS Ronin launched @ Rs. 1.49 lakh

Interesting product. Lets see how it fares.
To my eyes, the overall design of the bike looks quite a lot like the erstwhile Bajaj V15, especially the fuel tank.

Yes. The V15 is the one came first in to my mind especially when I saw the top end variant with decal. The base single tone variants somehow hides this similarity in design element at least in pictures.

Re: TVS Ronin launched @ Rs. 1.49 lakh

Bajaj should take a leaf out of TVS's book . While TVS and other manufacturers are trying to bring all sort of bikes to us Bajaj wants us to be stuck with Pulsars and Dominars.

It will be interesting too se how Ronin will perform in comparison to the FZ25.

As some members pointed out, rear design is complete mismatch with over all design of the bike. Also the TVS badge on the engine should be of a smaller font and different color (Red?). The running horse logo too seems too big for such a compact bike. Some minor tweaks and this bike may become the best looking bike under 2 lacs.

The Ronin's chain cover seems to be only a half cover (vertically split), with the inner face appears to be open and only the outer face covered to look like a belt-drive of sorts. One needs to pause some of the video reviews at the correct instant and zoom in - its then very apparent. Unless there is an extra-add on accessory to cover the inner half, it does not appear that this cover will be of very great use in reducing chain cleaning and maintenance periods

Yes there is an outer face only, but it covers the chain from outer and below with inner being open. This is much better than a naked chain. The design and execution is good.
