One of the awaited launches of the year. Is the launch timing intentional? I mean is it going to be launched slightly ahead of Himalayan 450?

To me, those new wheels (first launched on KTM RC 200/390 2022) will be the important aspect. They are supposed to be much lighter, thereby reducing the unsprung weight. And that might make this an even sharper handling bike.
Eagerly waiting for reviews and for test ride.

Looks like the AutocarIndia link is pointing to Himalayan 450 spy shot. Please update it.

I really hope this packs something like 50 ps (or more) for the expected price hike.

Don't expect anything above 47bhp. They need to keep it relevant for their home market for A2 license.

You're right.
This is not as such tough to manage, as I've heard of official restriction kits by manufacturers like Suzuki, plus even methods like dyno testing with air filter restriction and so on.
But, no one can deny, its far more convenient for KTM, to have under 47bhp in stock.

It just won't be a good news for most of us in India though. Assuming even a 175 kgs weight of the new BS6+OBD bike, this likely will not even be an upgrade for 2013 Duke 390 owners like me, who're still ruling the back roads with 152 kgs weight and 44 bhp.

Unfortunately, there is nothing Made in India that will be a proper upgrade for you. And by proper upgrade, I mean going at least 1.5x to 2x on the power output.

There was a glimmer of hope when there was a rumour that KTM was working on the Twin cylinder with Bajaj. But they already have the twin that their friends from China CFMoto just started selling as the 450 SR with >50 BHP.

Due to this reason, even the modern 650cc twins cease to be much of an upgrade over the A2 class of motorcycles and are now creeping towards 700cc like the R7/MT07 or more cylinders like the Trident or RS660.

I wouldn't expect 1.5-2x the power, as I'm already unable to use the full potential of my Duke at most places I ride. Midrange torque is more than welcome though. I would love to have a decent power output (even 40-50 something will do) with a low wet weight (160 kgs if possible) and good handling.

I mostly agree with your points, but the dual by KTM was unlikely to be much of a success anyways.
It would've been an expensive, fuel guzzling, unservicable at most places kind of motorcycle. Plus, who needs an unfaired Ninja 400 from KTM? Because that's roughly what it would've been. I think KTM's USP is single cylinder motorcycles.

Of course, we're in the BS6+OBD era. Can't expect much of weight saving today. Just like the RX100/135 era, I guess my bike and this era will fade away too.

Even with an upsize to a 390cc, the engine is still just a single cylinder 390cc.
Even disregarding the Euro restrictions, I don't think KTM can get much more power from such a small engine.

However hopefully they just might be able to increase the low and mid range torque.

Cool so the next gen adventure with 399 cc overbored will be here by next year then! What are the HP and torque numbers?

Where did you get those figures?
Incidentally these bore and stroke figures are exactly the same as the Triumph Speed 400. So much for *this engine will remain exclusive to Triumph*.

After experiencing all the bikes in that range, I can make a rough guess how the Duke engine is going to behave and it is going to be a lot of fun.

I had the feeling that they will take the page down so I did take some screenshots but those are on my laptop and I am away from my desk right now.

Quoting these numbers from international website page for Duke 390 2024 model and bikewale for the older model.

Looking at the way the frame drops, it appears to be well suited for the next gen adv. Might help lower the saddle height considerably
