The company has stated that it will be conducting a detailed diagnostics and health check of the specific batch. The service engineers will check the battery as well as thermal and safety systems of the e-scooters.

Recently, there have been multiple reports of e-scooters catching fire. Videos of an Ola S1 Pro engulfed in flames had also surfaced online. The investigation into that incident is still ongoing, and according to the company, preliminary assessment found that it was an isolated one.

Earlier, Okinawa had also announced a recall of its Praise Pro e-scooter.

This is a direct response to Gadkari ji warning of heavy penalties. Good on the govt to turn up the pressure.

Hopefully Ola fixes these fatal issues. They should have tested the product more before releasing. This is definitely bad PR.

There’s a saying in Marathi, translated - “To open the mouth, block the nose.”

With zero guidelines on fire management (in case of), no clear ways of battery disposal, no auto safety features in case of untoward vehicle behaviour, it seems every electric scooter company in India has decided to make customers their Guinea pigs.

We are too tolerant a country, really.
