Vimal Sumbly quits Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield's Asia-Pacific head, Vimal Sumbly, has resigned.

Vimal Sumbly is said to have played an important role in the growth of the brand in the Asia-Pacific region. He also helped set up the brand's assembly plant in Thailand. Prior to joining Royal Enfield, Sumbly headed Triumph India.

There have been quite a few high-profile exits from the company. More recently, Vinod Dasari stepped down from the post of Executive Director. Lalit Malik, head of Commercial Organization, Shubranshu Singh, Global Head of Marketing and Rodney Copes, Head of Royal Enfield's North American Operations have also left the company.

And nearer to home, so has Sachin Chavan, Sid Lal's one-time blue-eyed boy.

Re: Vimal Sumbly quits Royal Enfield

Hmmmm. Just 3 odd years with Royal Enfield. At around the same time, Rudratej had quit Royal Enfield to join BMW. Alas, he passed away from a heart attack not much after.

Guys, if you haven't already, I strongly recommend reading this Royal Enfield book (Book Launch | Indian Icon - A Cult called Royal Enfield). Has lots of dope on the stuff behind the scenes.

Lets just say that no tears were shed in the Triumph community when the gentleman left and joined Royal Enfield.

Something seems to be cooking at Royal Enfield. Despite the recent launches, the company seems to have taken its foot off the gas.
