re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

The YouTube vlogger who goes by the name Itchy Boots who travels around the world on her motorcycle had released a teaser about her new adventure which is in the Himalayas. She had listed the new Himalayan as a choice of bike and we'll know on Wednesday if it actually is that bike.

The picture in the above post looks quite like her although grainy. Her first part of world tour was on a Himalayan 411 which she rode back to Europe and RE had displayed it in their showroom there and in exchange given her a new Himalayan for another leg of her tour.
So I won't be surprised if RE has given her the new Himalayan to ride the Himalayas.

re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

Royal enfield seems to have addressed the Achilles heel of the OG Himalayan which was always its lack of power for effortless long distance highway cruising. 40hp is enough to maintain a stress free 100-120 with reserve oomph for quick overtakes.

My other wishlist points would include :-
1. Better QC. (Original Himalayan was besieged with QC issues from the beginning)
2. Tubeless spoke wheels.
3. Adjustable suspension.

There are some who need 40 PS but don't want to spend 4L. I suspect this will be priced at least 30K cheaper than the cheapest 390 Adventure. I don't think RE can price it closer to 390 ADV and sell good numbers. I have a hunch that it will be priced closed to 250 Adventure.

re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

I suspect the upcoming Triumph Scrambler 400X launch and Triumph’s bonkers pricing is putting RE under some pressure to get it out there and fast. With the Scrambler at potentially 2.6-2.8 RE is going to have to really offer something fantastic for someone to pick the Him 450. Otherwise only die hard RE chaps will choose it over the competition. Good times for the consumer though - plenty to choose from.

re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

RE just dropped a video featuring Himalayan 450, showing how they took the bikes from factory to Uming La.
The caption says 5500 kms, 24 riders and 3 bikes. Video does not say or show this. Possible 3 different variants of Himalayan ? 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed-screenshot_20231009173855.png
Video is here : https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyLTR...RlODBiNWFlZA==
Also, in a frame showing the bikes rolling off the assembly line, it looks like the front wheels have spokes at the extreme edge of the rim, so tubeless spoke wheel could be on offer.

I think the Scrambler will be very appealing to many at the start. But once we hear their experiences compared to the Himalayan 452 experiences, is when the tides will turn.

Just like its nature, the Himalayan 452 will pull through like the Himalayan 411 did.

The Scrambler is after all a scrambler, with limited utility as an adventure tourer as compared to an out-and-out purpose-built bike.

The original Himalayan attained success due to its accessibility for beginners in developed markets and more seasoned riders in developing ones. If the new Himalayan can stay true to the core principles of the older version, it will be a great success.

The video does show only 3 bikes in various frames right from flagging off to Umlingla. Could be 3 variants as well. But appears they were testing one bike with hard panniers and top box, one with soft luggage and one without luggage.

Generally the set of riders are changed enroute because the bike is put through rigorous stress tests. Also, the number of people 24 must be including support staff and camera crew because they shot various ads during this ride.

Unfortunately looks like normal spoked wheels.

Looks like they have integrated brake lights to the indicators.

The tank looks fair bit wider now. Hopefully we will get 18/21L tank and extended mileage.

Also, seems like they have learnt from the chassis snapping saga with the new trellis frame with engine as the stressed member? Always wondered how Harris Performance with all their claimed expertise goofed up the chassis design.

Windscreen design if different.

Can you please provide the context for this? Was it mentioned somewhere or is it because you've noticed something in the pic above? A great move if its true.

The spokes seem to go to both sides of the rim, as against the center. This is usually tubeless spoke design.
