Good catch - I dearly hope this comes with tube-less spoke wheels. Truth to be told, haven't been this excited about a motorcycle launch in the last few years. Waiting with a lot of anticipation

For early movers, this would be a leap of faith considering the early night mares of owning the first batch of current Himalayan and also this being a completely new engine/platform from RE.

The form factor of the bike is more practical than being a looker. Considering that RE has now started rental services too, if I were in the market (am passively now), I would probably invest into a proper Scrambler and then rely on RE rentals for that Ladakh trip which does'nt happen very frequently. So, I believe Himalayan 452 will be a niche offering and am hoping that RE continues to fine tune this new platform for years to come and make this as the go-to choice for adventurous/expedition trips.

If wishes were horses
Current Himalayan is priced just 20-30 thousand below KTM 250 Adventure which retails at ~ 2.90. With new LC engine, cycle components, suspension etc. it may land up at ~ 3.3 (ex showroom).
Either ways I am going to buy it as I have always had good experience with Himalayan (despite a few early niggles) since 2016. My only grouse was top end which is now being taken care.

The windscreen doesn't suit the bike. So expect a lot of after-market accessories. The wheel is indeed a novelty in this segment, kudos to RE

I love the build to purpose stance of the new Himalayan. Also love how RE has released images of the bike before official launch. No fancy cocktail parties nor random celebrity talking random stuff about the bike (read Aprilia ) ! Just get the details out to the customers. I am sure this bike will be loved by Indian and international customers as a balanced ADV.

Am waiting for the Gen 3 KTM 390 ADV too....it's gonna be about 20kg lighter, that's substantial, IMHO.

Yes. But maybe it's optional. Because some bikes are being photographed with tubeless spoked wheels and some with normal tubed tyres.

All said and done, it's a great feature to have. Does away with lot of apprehensions and I'm sure prospective buyers would not mind paying a premium of even 20-25k for this feature.

20-25k seems very reasonable, considering their alloy wheels retail for around 15k.

Considering these would be provided by Royal Enfield themselves, expect the quality to be high and pricing would be fair, compared to exorbitant prices that competitors like Triumph, Honda and others charge for accessories.

Well the Triumph Scrambler 400x pricing is out. 2.63L! RE will really have to up its game on performance, quality control and pricing to appeal to people other than their die hard loyalists. Good times for Indian bikers.

And the Gen3 KTM 390 ADV with its potent 400cc mill and about 20 kg lighter than the H452, is round the corner.

re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

This has all it takes to disrupt the market for a long time to come, a simple, no-nonsense practical mile-cruncher considering the plethora of options being slapped by RE. 390 and 250 the ADV versions, sales, especially of the latter would definitely take a hit. Let's not compare this with the Triumph Speed 400, the Triumph being a completely different motorcycle and segment it's aimed at.

Where the new 450 will chew its fair share is with the ADV390's pie. With hardly any competitors packing a punch (barring out the current REH and the Yezdi Adventure and the xPulse) creating a niche for itself with its top of the line electronics prowess and power but that's more a headache and that's where Himalayans come into play; being cheap, practical, comfortable and for the most part simple motorcycles to work with.

One interesting point is that the bike now incorporates a split frame unlike the solid single frame like the older Himalayans. Just like KTM ADVs split chassis.

Here's a screenshot I can enlarge. Notice the big eyelet/bolt recess for the subframe fixture on the left.

2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed-reh-chassis.png

Split frame/bolt-on have some advantages as compared to a single chassis as per my ovservation. Bolt-ons usually help isolate the combined stress to the entire frame, and helps the load bearing capacity. The chassis does receive a boost as the stress is not transferred from one frame to the other instead of all the stress being on a single frame. This allows the bike to not only handle heavy loads and bad terrain well, but also reduces the chances of stress failure as in case of any frame damage. Perhaps in case of a rear-end damage it's easier to replace a bolt on frame as opposed to an entire frame.

All-in, somehow my gut feeling is positive for the H450. Sincerely wish it doesn't turn out to be a damn squib, first-batch feelings for the early adopters.

Cheers!
VJ

Cant verify the veracity of this as this was forwarded in one of my ride WhatsApp group. it mentions No traction control so no ride by wire tech i guess.

May we expect something between 2.4L to 2.5L for the standard REH 450? And 2.7L for the variant with tubeless spoked wheels? Both seem justifiable in the present context.

"And every time I try to get out they pull me right back in" - So I had almost finalized the KTM Adv 390/399 as my next purchase and RE with tubeless spokes has pulled me right back into the dilemma. Especially I seldom speed north of 100 kmph.
