Thanks for posting this. I was scratching my head as to how the heck could it be 394 Kg. i think your analysis makes sense 👌🏿

There's also a video floating around of the upcoming Himalayan at a racetrack. https://www.Youtube.com/watch?v=cHMLDaaZT8s

Looks like it will be called the Himalayan 452 according to the approval document.
Great relief that they are sticking to Himalayan and not Gorilla, Guerrilla or chimpanzee 😎

re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

I will be little disappointed If weight is in the range of 194 to 200 KGs as speculated, I am not sure how it can compete against 390 adventure. It may lose out on nimbleness. Weight distribution may play a role here. I am planning for road focused adventure tourer in another 16 months. So far 390 adventure is in top of my list, followed by Himalayan 450. Previously I owned pocket rocket Duke 200 and addicted to its agility and robustness, while my current ride (bullet 500 UCE) really inspires me not to buy anything from RE again.

The Himalayan 452 is going to compete on torque in low and mid-range. For comparison the speed 400 also makes around 40hp at 8000 rpm. And people have praised it for its mid-range power delivery.

The extra 50 cc will give Himalayan 452 should give an edge of around 7-8 Nm more torque compared to the speed 400 making it around 45 Nm.

The new 390 KTM engine has more torque compared to the older 373 engine but still is has its power delivery biased towards the top end.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for as well. Having ridden a rented 390 Adv in Ladakh earlier this year, the 2 things I didnt like were the lack of low end torque and the lack of refinement. Everything else (chassis, comfort, power etc) were great. Hope the Himalayan addresses these 2 issues - if it does, it will be a global winner.

I completed my bike trip to Ladakh today, on a rented Himalayan.

Rather than expecting the new generation Himalayan to make up for the flaws of 390, I would expect RE to have worked on the flaws of the existing model which are :-
  • lack of refinement beyond 80-85 kmph
  • poor power to weight ratio, felt especially on the steep climbs with pillion
  • unreliable electronics, warning lights keep coming on and off
  • poor build quality, parts keep falling off now and then

Journalist Bunny Punia posted a video of a fully loaded H450 (rider + hard panniers + top box) effortlessly cruising at 130 on a highway.

This is looking promising folks.

I could freeze the frames and get this shot of the Himalayan 450 from the video released by RE.

Looks good, not much of a looker though, but I sincerely pray that RE deliver the purpose built bike many people are eagerly waiting for. They just have to pump more power out of the heart and sort out quality issues in the initial batches itself.

No doubts, we will have another winner..

Yeah..The current Himalayan looks nicer. I wish they had retained the looks of the current one. This is way too roundish (for lack of a better description).

This one am truly waiting for.
