re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2021. Edit: It's the Yamaha Aerox 155

Voted for Aerox 155. The reason is 2 months of its ownership.
This is a very new kind of vehicle for India. Powerful and safe with all necessary dynamics.
To my surprise it has more votes than I expected, though the vehicle sales has nowhere in the sales chart so far.

Waiting for the final results.

I see the Ola is listed here. Don’t we need to see them on roads which people actually own and drive? Reviews clearly mentioned its almost a prototype.

My vote goes to the Ola S1 Pro!
Could not vote due to new member restrictions but nevertheless. Yamaha has done a fantastic job by launching the Aerox 155 for the scooter enthusiast, but looking at the way forward, electric will be a sensible choice .
I just hope that Ola rectifies any niggles and issues as soon as possible and provides a decent after sales experience.

Scooty's are the people movers of Indian middle class. and they are the backbone of the country. My vote goes to the TVS Jupiter 125, as it is owned in numbers by the people, suggestions for improving the product is noted as per requirements of the people and is represented in advertisements for the people by the legendary Mr. Amitabh Bacchan.

Thumbs Up to TVS for this.

I voted for the Ola S1 pro as it has the potential to do for the Indian 2 wheeler space what the iphone did for the smartphones.
Affordable and future ready. Execution seems a bit half baked but it has made established manufacturers stand up and notice in a way Tesla did. Hope it turns out to be as good as it promises.

Voted TVS Raider 125, though late to the party it made a good entry. Packed with features, neat styling and the TVS heritage it is a good entry bike for the masses looking beyond 100cc commuters. Also till EVs become mainstream not stretching for it. Maybe things will change soon.

I can't vote as yet but if I could, the Aerox 155 would get it. Finally a product from Yamaha that the scooter enthusiast can get onboard with. They took their time but reviews from initial owners look good and is a proven product outside India as well.

Not sure how the Ola S1 is getting votes but and unproven product from an inexperienced manufacturer would be a big gamble. There are already concerns with the way they have handled things sofar.

re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2021. Edit: It's the Yamaha Aerox 155

Voted for TVS Jupiter 125.

Commuter segment 125cc scooterette was the only segment wherein TVS was not present & the customers had to move out of their showrooms empty-handed looking for such a product & head to Honda or Suzuki.

But now TVS has all the bases covered in their product portfolio with the Jupiter125 & have also improved upon the packaging of the product with changes in the fuel filling system as an example. When the competition copied their rear outside fuel filler concept, they changed the rules of the game altogether !!

Yamaha Aerox came very close but it will play in the niche market & hence, I opted for a more mass market product for my vote.

Its their brilliant marketing that is making the hype train go Cho Cho.

I really like that they are disturbing the market with an electric scooter which seems like a good product. But we really need to see it in customers hand along with charging and service stations for it to be truly successful.

It was a no brainer for me... OLA S1
The impact, the relevance, the scale, the hype too. This has to be the Indian 2wheeler of this year. Of course there are niggles, features absent, and many unknowns. But it has made people take notice of EVs in a serious way.

re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2021. Edit: It's the Yamaha Aerox 155

I voted because the privilege and a duty of having a vote is something millions fight and die for and is not one that should ever be wasted.

But having not been a biker effectively since 2017, I cannot but help look on with dismay at a current poll for motorcycle of the year where the first 5-6 choices are scooters. With rebadged R15's, Pulsars, TVS's and RE's making up the rest of the Indian offerings.

Is it the pandemic or is it what's been happening while we were riding cycles?

Cheers, Doc

To be honest, we need to have segmentation here. Comparing Yamaha Aerox to a Hayabusa is comparing apples to oranges.

I myself have no idea how to approach this poll. I'm guessing we'll have to select a 2 wheeler which is likely to cause the biggest impact, or fill the most needed gap in the offering.
Is this it?

EDIT: Voted for Yamaha Aerox (without knowing existing votes) as it is filling a gap left by the legendary Kinetic Blaze... The affordable big n' fast scooter.
Surprised to see how many have voted for it too.

Voting for Royal Enfield Classic 350 for its classic full metal build and the reliability it takes. We have seen this testing happening for at least a year now and finally out with lots of improvements.

re: Team-BHP 2-Wheeler of the Year, 2021. Edit: It's the Yamaha Aerox 155

I am straight away skipping all ICE 2 wheelers this year (and upcoming years). Reason = EV Disruption in Indian auto space.

2 wheeler EVs are a more practical choice than the 4 wheeler EVs as they are mostly Intra-city vehicles and a range around 100 KM is sufficient for most users. A 200 KM range + limited charging stations means 4 wheelers still have some distance to go.

Another reason for choosing only EV 2 wheelers are because there is real disruption in this space due to large commitments from Ola, Bounce vs ICE OEMs. The customer is the winner with this disruption. In 4 wheeler space the existing OEMs have to turn into disruptors as it is not easy for new entrants. Except for TATA Motors, none have managed to do it and not hints of it in 2022 as well (mass market products). TML is at least 3 years ahead of the rest.

I will ignore ICE launches as niche products similar to how cars costing 50-60 lakhs are not listed in TeamBHP COTYs. Yes, long distance travels or bike products in ICE 2 wheelers still don't have a match, but the mass market product wins the COTY/BOTY.

The ICE bikes/scooters are a few steps forward whereas Ola's commitment is a big leap which will have cascading effects. Hence voting for Ola S1.
