I wonder why the vehicle is sporting a TN 37 (Coimbatore South) temporary registration plate. Royal Enfield doesnt have any manufacturing plant or R&D center in Coimbatore, so could it be road testing by a vendor? This is quite puzzling to me.

Look a well-proportioned option. personally I feel this is more practical than Perak and would have many takers. Moreover, it is supposed to be based on 650 twins and hence should be a good overall package.

if you look at the first picture, it is TN 03 T. In the last few images, due to the picture angle, 03 T is probably mistaken as 37 .

Very interesting and looks promising.
Indeed with the RE 650 Twins having created a name and niche for itself this also looks like a promising proposition. The final Belt drive is a new for an Indian bike, while the other proportions and layout also look well rounded.

Eager to see how the final version comes out.

On closer observation, this does appear to be the correct and is in line with their Madras based operations.

The bike looks really nice. There is a dearth of mid spec cruisers in India with just the Street and the Vulcan available and both are very expensive. In the sub 4l bracket you don't get many options for a good cruiser.

On a side note what the heck camera was used to click those photos? I haven't seen such horrible photos from a camera since 2010 and before!

Off topic..but I think the images are zoomed in screenshots from a video clip. That could explain the grainy quality.

I too felt it was a belt drive, However, it seems to be a rear disk with caliper on top. In the first picture you can see the other side of the wheel with a half chain cover too

Yeah sub 4L cruiser with twin cylinder, USD forks etc, makes it a great package and looking at the Interceptor I think the price would also be worrisome for the likes of Triumphs and HD's.

There was a time a decade ago when we used to just dream of high capacity bikes and it makes me so much happy seeing that now we get world class bikes at half the cost of the competition.

Its like RE is on a mission to clean the competition flat (read "Atma-nirbhar" )

As for the camera it looks like an excerpt from the video that was taken.

Since it looks like a cruiser I think this deserves a separate thread of a 650 Cruiser rather than the 838 Bobber.

This looks quite good & the engine (650 cc, also compliments the looks).
I had TB350 for few years (courtesy my brother who would let me ride it more often), but, I wasn't satisfied with the quality & overall package. The new models are much better & I hope the quality part is addressed.
My last wish wish would be a bigger fuel tank like the 22~ liters that's now on TV models.

Seems, RE is definitely on a roll, and a good reason as to why wouldn't Harley Davidson start to reel off and consider packing their bags.

The bike does seem to have black treatment engine side casing covers with white lettered RE fonts along with a belt drive and USD forks, which is a great move by RE and true to the aspect of being a lovely crusier. The 650 CC platform does seem to be giving an excellent edge to the manufacturer.

It seems to be from bobber concept with USD forks (First time with RE). It is chain drive as confirmed by Karthick in comments.

Looking at the long wheel base it may fill the void that HD exit going to create.

It definitely seems to be 650cc. Looking at the long wheel base it might accomodate more than parallel twin, might even v-twin like kx-bobber. But I would like to think that it is 650 parallel twin and look at the silencers. they are more coherent than the ones protruding in IC650

RE definitely seems to be making all right moves. Having seen so many of Classic and Thunderbird owners opting to modify their bikes into cruisers, makes sense to have a company made cruiser with forward set foot-pegs. I own a Classic 500 and while the seating position is really comfortable, I have always hated the wobble in front wheel due to poor suspension set up. Good to finally see an RE with USD forks. Hoping to see scrambler and ADV version of 650 twins soon. One more thing I have hated in my Classic 500 are the brakes and I have heard from most Interceptor owners about how good brakes on their bikes are. Hoping to see these bikes being launched soon and hopefully RE decides to price them as well as they did in case of their existing 650 twins.

With the proven 650 twin engine, RE might be able to fill the void created by the HD. However I have doubts on the market segment itself. Cruisers have become like "sedans" while the market sentiment has shifted towards ADV (the SUVs).

Assuming these next generation bikes come with Nav and digital instrumentation etc, the price will definitely be over that of INT650 and might overlap with the other Adv offerings.

When I test-rode the Interceptor 650, my first reaction was that this engine was born to go into a proper highway cruiser. Laid back, torquey, not particularly rev-happy but nice and smooth. Perfect for a Thunderbird sequel (not so much a retro sporty kind of bike like a cafe racer in my opinion, but to each their own).

This looks like this could be everything the Thunderbird promised to be, but failed at.

And a belt drive? This is all very interesting
