As per the available details, the prototype features a petrol-powered, parallel-twin engine along with a 48V battery and an electric motor.

The 48V battery is located under the seat whereas the electric motor is mounted above the transmission. The motorcycle runs on electric power in the city mode. Outside the city limits, the hybrid system comes into play and operates both the internal combustion engine and electric motor.

Kawasaki’s hybrid motorcycle prototype also features an automated gearshift system that uses an automated clutch and a servo-operated shifter. This allows for push-button changes.

Re: Kawasaki showcases a hybrid motorcycle prototype

A 48V system won't have enough power or torque to even be comparable to the power of the internal combustion engine already present. My guess is they beefed up the starter motor and battery and called it a hybrid system, just like Maruti's fake hybrid. The automatic shifter and clutch was needed to disconnect the ICE when the bike is powered by the starter motor.

Seems like Kawasaki is trying to pull a fast one, by adding a limp mode.
