TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

TVS has launched the Jupiter 125. The new scooter is available in 3 variants - drum brake with steel wheels, drum brake with alloy wheels and disc brake (front) with alloy wheels. The starting price of the TVS Jupiter 125 is Rs. 73,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The TVS Jupiter 125 features a full-LED headlamp, signature LED guidelights, a stylish taillamp and a pillion grabrail reflector. The new scooter also has a semi-digital instrument cluster that shows information such as the average fuel consumption, real-time fuel consumption, clock and more.

TVS has placed the 5-litre fuel tank of the Jupiter 125 in the floorboard which has allowed the company to provide a segment-leading under-seat storage capacity of 32-litre that is expected to accommodate two helmets. Other convenient features include a front external fuel filler cap, front glove box, and USB charger.

Powering the TVS Jupiter 125 is a 124.8cc, single-cylinder, 2-valve engine that makes 8.3 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 10.5 Nm @ 4,500 rpm. The suspension setup includes telescopic front forks and a segment-first, gas-charged mono-shock at the rear. For the brakes, there is a 220 mm front disc and a 130 mm rear drum brake. It is to be noted that the aforementioned features could vary depending on the variant.

The TVS Jupiter 125 will lock horns with the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125, and Yamaha Fascino 125.

Re: TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

Looks like the scooter segment is buzzing up after a long period of lull, A good looker this Jupiter should grab a lot of eyeballs, Interesting to see how competition answers back.

Pricing also looks competitive for a 125 CC scooter. Would keep an eye on the sales figures of 125 cc scooters post the slew of EScooter launches.

Re: TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

Looks really great for the commuter segment. (I was thinking they're launching a new brand). Utility/sporty at the same time. Two helmet space is revolutionary. This should do well.

Re: TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

Out of all the prominent 125 cc scooters today, Yamaha Ray Zr, Suzuki Burgman, Suzuki Access 125, Hero Maestro Edge, Hero Destini, Honda Grazia, Honda Activa 125 & TVS NTorq, TVS Jupiter 125 is the most feature enriched to-date. I think Jupiter's IntelliGO & Ray ZR's Hybrid are the only 2 scooters adopting non belt driven crank in the whole segment.

Despite all these feature rich Jupiter 125, where the scooter lacks is at nearly the bottom most part of power to weight ratio (last one being Activa 125; no wonder they don't make sales in 125 segment) but has a strong torque per tonne. In laymans terms, good for taking loads, but has lesser top end.

Re: TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

I get the feeling that the with Jupiter in the 125 CC space, the immensely popular NTORQ will now move up to 155/160 CC space to take on Aerox and SR 160

Re: TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

When I was in the market for a scooter, the only reason why I had to let go of the Jupiter was because of the unavailability of a powerful engine (my apartment has a steep ramp), ended up buying the Activa 125. I feel the Jupiter triumphs in terms of riding comfort. Ability to store two helmets under the seat is what caught my attention.

Re: TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

Quite useful features some concerns though :
- No charging port in the under-seat storage ? I am not comfortable with keeping anything valuable in the open cubby hole even for a short duration let alone a phone. Would help if your phone is a on a mount though. Is there an option to fit it in under seat ?

- Have to watch out for some rattles from the newly placed tank though, hope it doesn't become a source of niggles.

But full points to TVS for making a truly useful design with the expanded storage and easy filling tank

Re: TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

Adjustable gas charged mono shock at the rear, 32 litre under seat storage to hold 2 helmets, Side stand indicator with alarm, weighs around 109kg, real time fuel efficiency indicator in instrument cluster, auto engine cut off (can be turned off by the rider) Sweet!

This is a new 2 valve engine and not the 3 valve one from NTorq. Expected to be frugal than the NTorq, and as per the media test drives, milege goes up to 65kmpl. Waiting to be tested in the real world condition to see how it fares on our road.

Re: TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

Except fully digital console, this Jupiter 125 competes with all other brands in this segment. The main attraction in this scooter is the large underseat storage, large front leg space and front external fuel filler (am seeing this feature after the Mahindra Sym Flyte which had this front fuel filler cap).

I like the scooter, and waiting for the test drive scooter to arrive at the dealer showroom.

Re: TVS Jupiter 125 launched with prices starting at Rs 73,400

TVS has always bought new things in scooter segment. Wego was a revolution with patented easy stand, its easy balance, external fuel filler and those 12 inch wheels.

Jupiter 125 has everything going for it, except for that open right side cubby hole ( Does it have a drain to flush out water during rains ? ) and missing Bluetooth.

TVS will in future come out with scooters with 14 inch wheels soon!
Scooters are slowly but surely bridging the gap with bikes.

They do have charging port in under seat storage. Saw it in the you tube review by Gagan Chaudhary. Please check.
