Yamaha Ray ZR 125 Hybrid launched at Rs. 76,830

Yamaha has launched the Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid in India. Prices start at Rs. 76,830 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Ray ZR and Street Rally hybrid scooters are powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 8 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 10.3 Nm @ 5,000 rpm. Both scooters come with a Smart Motor Generator (SMG), which functions as an electric motor to provide a power boost under acceleration.

An indicator light notifies the rider when the Power Assist function is active. About 3 seconds after starting, or when the throttle is cut back or the engine rpm exceeds the prescribed level, the Power Assist function is cancelled.

The Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Street Rally Fi Hybrid come with Automatic Start & Stop system, a side stand engine cut-off switch and a Quiet Engine Start System. Other features include an LED headlight, digital instrument cluster, 190 mm front disc brake with Unified Brake System (UBS), wide 110 mm rear tyre and 21-litre under-seat storage.

The scooters also get Bluetooth connectivity with Yamaha's Motorcycle Connect X app. It offers features such as Answer Back, Locate my Vehicle, Riding History, Parking Record & Hazard.

Good to hear that newly launched Ray ZR Hybrid gets the connectivity features.

We took our Ray ZR BS-6 last year June & one of the few things which I missed by then is the connectivity options.
Now, this is fulfilled by Yamaha & hope they get more customers with the introduction of Hybrid vehicles.

Can someone provide feedback on Ray ZR 125 Hybrid? Is it good among competition?

I am looking for scooter with less weight and good suspension for short city rides.

For local city errands and sub 50km daily usage, the best bet is to opt for Ampere Magnus EX, an electric scooter (3rd gen of the model) that comes with a lithium-ion battery. The battery can be easily removed and charged at home too. Lasts approx 75kms for each charge.

Below is a link to a very good deal I found on Olx, seller is willing to settle for 66k for a 7months old 5k used scooter.

Disclaimer: I just like the product and have test-driven it as well. No connections with old/ad/seller/Ampere.
