Got a kick out of imagining it coming factory fitted with all the parts from the BTO packages + some weight trimmings here and there through the use of better materials. A few bhp more and a few kgs less, made for the track, and about 50k hike over the standard bike...

If RE can charge willy nilly just for a custom paintjob on the anniversary edition interceptor, there's potential for TVS to go all out on the RR310RP, and even get the CF bodywork from your wishlist... if they ever make an RP.

Very rightly said. Bigger isn't necessarily better. I would pick this one too if I were in India. I am sure bigger models with same treatment are on the cards if this becomes a success - and I think it should. Its good to see manufacturers trying to offer something new. TVS with this bike, Yamaha with Aerox scooter. During my P220 days I would have loved to see Bajaj do something like this to their 220 after having spent close to 30k to make her a 230 including a big bore kit, exhaust, carb and what not.

re: TVS Apache RTR 165 RP launched at Rs. 1.45 lakh

TVS have given an option to people like me to enjoy the high RPM charm that had to some extent been missing in the latest iterations which are undoubtedly more practical.

IIRC during the RR310 launch, TVS execs, replying to the gap in power between the RR and the RC had mentioned that they wanted to make motorcycles which are usable everyday as the only bike. Their track versions of the RTR 200 make over 40bhp but they won't work in the city.

With the limited RP series they seem to be providing an option to people who want that behaviour while still being usable.
Will wait for the reviews to see what it feels like.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 165 RP launched at Rs. 1.45 lakh

Wow, this is a first i have heard of, atleast in India and that too for a limited run bike? Will they be able to justify the R&D and production costs or will they eventually do a Royal Enfield and launch this version in normal bikes too (read the signals edition)

It for sure is a thing worth commending and hoping for more such editions from TVS at least, not in limited guise though, they can make it a full blown performance division of sorts.

Anyways, i'd still pick MT15 over this as the price is just a little bit more and the power in the same ballpark and same overall screamer characteristics too (it used to be the same in BS4 era, Japanese conservative-ism at work here to reduce the power?) the actual added benifits will be improved reliability thanks to being liquid cooled and engineered from the start for this power and addition of VVA as opposed to just Race cams in this which should make lower end performance, mileage and idle lumpiness much better comparatively. What you loose on is the exclusivity factor.

I am glad TVS is going down this road!

200 is a really limited number and really make it tempting.

Do they specify anywhere that 165 RP will not be sold again and will remain exclusive?

I meant these things should most definitely be better in the MT15, maybe i didn't phrase it correctly. I meant MT/R15 contain much more hardware/engineering than this and make around the same power as well. This contains a shorter stroke and race cams in comparison. I have not ridden this one but would love to.
