Hero Motocorp's chairman and CEO, Pawan Munjal teased their electric scooter during the company’s 10th-anniversary celebration live stream. Dr. Munjal said this upcoming electric scooter will be revealed soon. He also said that there are other electric two-wheelers in the pipeline as well.



Hero Motocorp is ready to be aggressive and spend more money on EVs if the market is disrupted.

Why wait for someone else to disrupt the market? Why don't they be the disruptors?

This is interesting. The scooter does not look similar to any of the current models from the Taiwanese Gogoro models. Looks to be a homegrown scooter.

How will they position this against Hero Electric when they have a non compete in place is what we will have to watch out far.

Will hero motocorp create a sub brand for electric vehicles?

Anyone has updates on the upcoming Hero Motorcorp's electric scooter? I just learnt that they are an early investor in Ather as well.

A little surprised that the market leader in 2 wheelers doesnt have an EV in their portfolio when they have partnerships with Gogoro and Ather.

The electric scooter have been co-developed at its R&D centres in Germany and CIT, Jaipur.

It's EV project is in an advanced stage of development and the product will be manufactured at its plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.

Hero Motors has taken the threat seriously and is responding appropriately.
And the timing is just right to counteract OLA from being the dominant player.

If Hero delivers, then they and OLA can corner the market easily since no one else is prepared.

Honda have nothing in the works, Bajaj is busy playing at subterfuge, TVS is already a non starter. Seems like Honda has everything to lose by delaying getting an EV scooter to market. This should have them scrambling.

Ather will probably be absorbed into Hero Motors as soon as the segment gains more market-share. Interesting times.

Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to launch its very first electric scooter by March 2022.

Back in August this year, as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, Hero MotoCorp virtually showed off a prototype of its upcoming electric scooter. The company has now stated that it will launch its maiden e-scooter by March 2022.

From the brief glimpse that we got in August, Hero’s e-scooter does not seem to share much with e-scooters from Gogoro, with whom the company has partnered for battery-swapping EVs in India. It sports a fairly conventional scooter silhouette, a seemingly mid-mounted motor, and a single-sided rear suspension.

Hero says that the new e-scooter will be manufactured at its plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh that’s aptly called the ‘Garden Factory’. This is the youngest of Hero’s plants at the moment, having commenced operations in March 2020.

Hero Motorcorp already has a 35% stake in Ather. It needs to buy another 16% for controlling interest.

As an Ather 450x owner I think the potential is HUGE if/when the partnership materializes. As a Hero Motorcorp shareholder, I hope it happens soon.

Hero could launch New Electric Scooters, Motorcycles under VIDA Brand.

Recently, Hero MotoCorp has registered multiple names with the name VIDA which includes - VIDA Electric, VIDA EV, VIDA Mobility, VIDA MotoCorp, VIDA Scooters and VIDA Motorcycles.
