Honda aiming for zero motorcycle fatalities involving their vehicles by 2050

Honda is aiming to achieve zero motorcycle fatalities involving its vehicles by 2050.

The company recently stated that being one of the largest manufacturers & sellers of motorcycles in the world, it has a social responsibility to eliminate motorcycle collision fatalities, especially in emerging countries.

In order to do this, the company plans to expand the range of safety technologies on offer. Since most motorcycle collisions involve automobiles, the company plans to introduce omnidirectional ADAS on all its new models in developed countries by 2030.

Also, using the R&D from its Level 3 automated driving technology development, Honda plans to enhance the intelligence of the ADAS, in turn increasing the percentage of collision patterns covered by the technology.

In addition to expanding the safety technology in automobiles, Honda is also strengthening research on other technologies which will enable both motorcycles and automobiles to safely co-exist. Honda is also introducing traffic safety education activities in emerging countries by focusing on infrastructure and government policies.

Re: Honda aiming for zero motorcycle fatalities involving their vehicles by 2050

On a lighter note, the way they are operating in India, especially that when a couple of their best sellers are in the dying sedan segments, I doubt there will be any Honda vehicles on sale in 2050, so that is quite an easy task with the current trend and management, who will probably still be undecided on the launch of a 10-20 lac crossover even in 2050.

Now, back to being serious. Making such announcements and revealing such a roadmap 30 years down the line are just good for newspaper headlines and few seconds of fame. There are just too many variables! Electrification will be changing a lot more things, especially the way companies exist, function and collaborate (recent Rimac-Bugatti-Porsche news). 3 years or 5 years is still something believable. 30 years? Highly doubtful.

While they are at it. Please implement them ASAP on their Activa's and Dio's to prevent squids on a Suicide mission who harm other road users.

Also for God's sake get rid of the blinding LED headlamp or atleast give auto high/low beam so that few more accidents can be reduced.

And yes, disc brake option on Activa 110 (and Dio) because that's the LEAST they can do for the largest selling two wheeler over here!

You echoed my voice. If you think your city is full of Activa and Duo blinders, you should visit Bangalore someday.

I have only one request to Honda, JUST REMOVE DAMN HIGH BEAM SWITCH FROM YOUR SCOOTERS!
