The Dominar 250 is powered by a 248.8cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 27 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 23.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. The bikes has an upside down fork suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It is equipped with disc brakes at both ends and has dual-channel ABS.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 250 gets a price cut of Rs. 16,800

After the price cut it has become a very good VFM product in the quarter litre segment. And they had to do it to stay competitive after the price cut of FZ250. It might have some impact on the sale of Gixcer 250. And surely would cannibalise the sales of Pulsar 200 RS as well, which is having almost similar price band with lesser power & normal forks instead of USD forks in Dominar.

Score another one for the consumer.

Just wondering if these price cuts are also accompanied by quality cuts.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 250 gets a price cut of Rs. 16,800

IMHO this price cut had to be the launch price. I feel Bajaj ignored the two variants of Dominar completely without even trying to market them. Moreover, the 'Haathi mat paalo' Ad killed it even further for the Dominar 400.

For what these two bikes offer versus the competition, it is no brainer to pick these. Spares are cheap and easily available in most cities, ASC experience is a hit or miss. If I am in the 2-2.5L bracket, the best choice remains Dominar 400.

C'mon Bajaj, wake up and look at the market share that Royal Enfield has been maintaining for ages!

Dominar feeling the heat after Fz25's price cut ? Or is it that the demand for these 250 bikes has reduced post fuel hikes. Also, most colleges are yet to re open, the students are most probably holding on their purchase. Wouldn't be surprised if Gixxer and ktm too follow this trend.

Small correction, it was launched last year March.

Back to the topic, its actually a very competent product with a good cycle parts, meets the requirement of the average rider for city and occasional highway ride.

This price cut makes it even more interesting now.

I was seriously considering this bike along with KTM 250,BMW GS310 and Interceptor 650 to replace my almost 15yrs old Avenger 180.

Few months back had visited the BMW/Enfield/BAJAJ showroom the same day back to back in the same order.

The BMW and Enfield guys insisted on a test ride even tough i told them that i am here for enquiry and not planning to purchase immediately.

The Dominar 250 was the one in which i was really interested on a test ride but the showroom staff was least interested and didn't offer any saying no bike available, heck even after a follow up call few after days they couldn't provide one to date.

The bajaj showroom guys remind you of the sarkari babu types, not interested and shows up in the dismal sales of Dominar.

Looks like Bajaj is making way for the new Pulsar 250 to be launched, at long last.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 250 gets a price cut of Rs. 16,800

This was expected especially after Yamaha reduced the FZ250's price by a good 20,000 Rs. To put things in perspective 20,000 INR is a ballpark figure of RTO charges in Pune for a bike.
I for one, have always been of the opinion that the 250cc bikes are a bit overpriced for what they offer over competent 200cc bikes like the Apache or Pulsar NS/RS.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 250 gets a price cut of Rs. 16,800

Dominar 250 will make more sense now after the price cut but one will have a tough time choosing a Bajaj bike between 1.3-1.5L as you have a lot of options in the same showroom from 220F(this bike still sells decent enough for its age!) to the 200 twins(NS and RS). Only thing is the road tax and insurance. Too dam expensive for the lack of roads we have and premiums are very steep.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 250 gets a price cut of Rs. 16,800

First FZ25 and now this. In both cases Yamaha and Bajaj over-estimated their product's pull. So Dominar 250 now has a 50k difference with elder sibling Dominar 400 in terms of ex-showroom pricing(must be ~70k OTR difference).Good, better sense prevailed and they are back to sensible pricing.

Another 250 which needs a price cut is KTM 250 adv. Wishful thinking?

Auto makers are realising that that average consumer is smart and hence the price corrections where is is most needed.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 250 gets a price cut of Rs. 16,800

Is the price cut in response to Yamaha's FZ price cut, as rightly mentioned by members here, or is Bajaj trying to just capture market share after lockdown? With monsoon coming, the next 2 months are not the most optimal time in buying motorbikes, and then we have Diwali in Q3.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 250 gets a price cut of Rs. 16,800

If you see clearly, since the launch RS.10,000/- has been increased over the period. I went for a test ride during the launch time and waited for the right time to buy. So went to the showroom this March and found out over 13K was increased on the whole. I felt it was overpriced and went with the Gixxer SF250 because I got 15K discount making the On road price 2L in Vizag.
.
This price cut is very much necessary, but feeling sad for my friend who bought one just before few weeks. 16K is a lot

Re: Bajaj Dominar 250 gets a price cut of Rs. 16,800

Both the Dominars are really nice products but suffer from the laid back approach that Bajaj has. Customer Service is nowhere to be found and their dealers are greedy. There's an incident that lead me to think this way. I am in the market looking to purchase a bike preferably in the 250 - 400 cc category and test rode both the Dominars. Not a lot of news about this however a day before the 250's price was slashed, the 400's price was hiked by 9K. At this time both the dealers in my city called me up to inform me about this. While when the 250's price was slashed, even after me calling them to confirm about this, they said that they hadn't received any such update from Bajaj. What I also don't understand with Bajaj is the frequency at which they increase their prices. It is as if they're too confident with their commuters that they don't care if the Dominar sells or not. You go to their showrooms or workshops and its like they're still living it up in the 90's. Like someone here rightly said, "The bajaj showroom guys remind you of the sarkari babu types, not interested and shows up in the dismal sales of Dominar."
