Re: Piaggio launches Aprilia SXR 125 in India at Rs. 1.15 lakh

That is about 12k lesser than the SXR 160.

IMO it is a little high for what is being offered.

The kerb weight of 129 kgs(TBC) will kind of dull the performance a bit. May be too heavy for a scooter.

Re: Piaggio launches Aprilia SXR 125 in India at Rs. 1.15 lakh

The Piaggio Group already has three Aprilia models in our market viz. the SR 125, SR 150 and the SR 160. By far, after perusing the sales charts, it appears that the sales of the three Aprilias being marketed in India (courtesy a4anurag of teambhp) during March 2020 to March 2021 (April and May 2020 sales were nil) are in the region of:-

SR 125: 355-1433 units per month

SR 150: 13-538 units per month

SR 160: 678-2718 units per month (August 2020 - March 2021)

When they are marketing the Vespa brand with its 125 cc engine (sales 1115- 4055 units during March 2020 to March 2021), and with the new Aprilia SXR 125 now being introduced, one is not sure as to whether the buyer will pay a sum of Rs 115,000=00 as the ex-showroom price for a 125 cc/ 9.39 bhp scooter? Apparently, the fairings, the cosmetics, alloys and more such features are pushing up its costs. But all said and done, with the tardy sales at about 1000 units on an average every month, will the model last long? And will we get its spares/ cosmetics after say 10 years ? Its a niche segment scooter no doubt !

With the above sales figures, it is also clear that buyers prefer the SR 160 stepthrough priced at about Rs 131,000 ex-showroom over the SR 150, whose sales are being cannibalised by the former. If someone prefers to buy an Aprilia, the SR 160, BS VI should be the choice, as its a class above all available 110-125 cc CVT scooters. However, the power output is a dismal 11.01 bhp/11.6Nm torque for its 160.03cc engine.

Our fossil Yamaha RX 100's (two stroke, no BS ???) power output is 11 bhp/10.39 Nm torque for its tiny 98 cc engine.
