Re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

On a side note, how much increase in price could it be to provide a 6-speed gearbox and a dual channel ABS? The management seems uninvolved in what the consumers want, doing things out of their wish. I agree providing a complete off-road bike may not be that sensible as they would need to work on a lot of changes but if they are looking to target the touring segment, I reckon it should have a 6 speed gearbox and dual ABS. Why does HMSI always settle for the less in India? Don't we deserve a little more?

Oh wait, the ground clearance is exactly the same as Honda Hornet too. I don't understand under what pretext HMSI is calling this an "ADV".

Re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

A missed chance here by Honda post success of CB350.

The bike doesn't really look powerful from specs and it would be mostly for those who want their bike to look adventurous. They could have simply plonked CBR engine with 6 gears and it would have created a niche product in its category. Right now, it's neither here nor there.

Since Activa success, Honda seem to be interested in launching commuter products only and even if they launch any desirable product, it is priced so atrociously that it fails right there.

Re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

Another uninspiring and underwhelming move by Honda. I wouldn't be surprised if this sells good numbers, though. I'm not impressed though..
The last time I was impressed by Honda was when the CBR250 was launched.
The H'Ness and CB350 RS (both extremely competent bikes) came into the game a little late, so it was not excitement but an "about time!" feeling.
I don't know why a company of world renown cannot homologate and bring some great bikes in their catalogue to India?
Can someone explain to me why Honda does this? Because I don't understand if this is deliberate. If it is, then why?

Example:

- Fireblade sold in India but no CBR600RR
- No Rebel Twins in India

and now this - Why no 350 cc version of this CB200X???

Re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

Honda wanted to put this in front for the masses. VFM machine for road touring that looks like a proper adv.
Its not anywhere close to the Xpulse in terms of anything except road touring, the power figures are similar but this can't take you off road, those puny 17 inchers are good for on-road duties only, but maybe thats what people want, a good looking VFM adv bike with alloys and wind protection.

Having said that I hope they release the CRF 300 Rally. Perfect replacement for my Rally kitted Xpulse! With the free trade agreement with Thailand, the price can be competitive, anything under 4 lakhs will disrupt the market.
A do it all trail/touring machine! Sigh Honda!

Whats all the discussion about touring, trail riding etc??? Its just a hornet with a plastic fairing

This thread is a good example of how (im)mature the motorcycling scene is in our country

Re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

Sorry for going Off topic. Congratulations to Honda for diluting eagerness on a product launch. 350RS was the initial one and followed with this. These could have been collectively added as "special kits" in the initial launch itself.

If Himalayan, Xpulse 200, Adv390 are going to sell 5K units each (aggregate to 15K on an average) then we will see the yamahas and hondas bringing in proper adventure tourer.

Till then its going to be manifestations of usual commuter with mask, half done fairing, retro fits, etc without much deliberations about how the bike itself will behave.

One brand that can cause a little bit of more numbers and competition is a proper adv tourer in Pulsar brand.

Re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

Seeing this abomination from Honda I remember another 200cc "Adventure Tourer" from Bajaj called Pulsar AS200 where AS stood for "Adventure Sport". It had the same 200cc mill as Pulsar NS200 akin to Honda CB200X using the same mill from the Honda Hornet. Its a lazy and a cheesy attempt from Honda to cash in on the "Adventure Tourer" fad. I believe KTM is partially responsible for this phenomenon by offering their ADV 390 which is based on Duke 390. To their credit KTM has equipped the ADV390 to the gills in addition to a 19 inch front wheel albeit the engine running the same tune as Duke 390. Honda on the other hand has done very less and is pushing out a half baked product. Given the portfolio of products offered by Honda Two Wheelers in India, this was expected. RE Himalayan is the only hope in this segment besides the Xpulse 200.

Re: Honda CB200X, now launched at Rs. 1.44 lakh

This thread reminds me of KTM Adventure 250 thread. Post launch pin drop silence. Both on youtube/media and forums

Meanwhile just checked with a honda dealer nearby and they say the test ride bike might arrive later this week. Only difference from existing hornet 2.0 would be the rider's sitting stance due to slightly raised/widened handlebar and a little more seating space. Even that would be marginal if at all. Selling point over a hornet 2.0 is the fairing. Didnt work for Bajaj AS200, lets see if it works for honda.

Haha, true but KTM was a much better tourer than this one.

I'd be surprised if it does sell. I want this model to fail so miserably in the market that HMSI doesn't think about launching any new motorcycle after this (pun intended).

Many people dont know this but sales for X-Blade and Hornet 2.0 have tanked in the last couple of months, and I am sure after a couple of months Honda CB200X will also see a similar fate.

I do remember seeing the bike in the lowest selling models in India a couple of months ago. It was right there with the plastic Suzuki Intruder. I just assumed it is a Covid related issue and ignored it.

The Hornet 2.0 is priced very close to the Apache. There is no contest as to which the better-equipped bike is.

If the low numbers are a market reaction to the pricing and the product, Honda has really messed up in launching an adventure version of the lowest selling bike for Honda.

If one sets aside the price tag, this is already a great bike.

I was in love when I took the test ride.

Dual disc, I don't think they were really necessary, the one disc was quite effective.

USD, I hope they are on slightly firm side as I found it to be on the softer side, more tuned for comfort, not that they were bad in any way.

Now coming back to the price tag, praying that Honda prices it right atleast this time now, because with these additional things also the current price tag is not justified.

You are not alone mate. This bike is something a lot of people were absolutely sure of picking up till the time honda declared the obnoxious price tag. I hope honda does a BMW (310GS) soon.

P.S: End of OT from my side. Back to CB200X
