Royal Enfield has sold over 10,000 units of the Meteor 350 in India for the first time since its launch.



The bike went on sale in November 2020 and in the first month itself, Royal Enfield sold 7,000 bikes. Since then, the company has been selling around 5,000-10,000 units per month. The Meteor 350 even outsold the Honda CB350 last month.

The Meteor 350 is available in three variants - Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. The bike replaces the Thunderbird and Thunderbird X models.

Powering the Meteor 350 is a new 349cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that produces 20.2 BHP @ 6,100 rpm and 27 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The engine features an overhead camshaft instead of a pushrod and comes with a primary balancer shaft. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Thats some amazing news for RE!

But with the COVID wave catching up and the insane waiting period for the Meteor.
I suppose RE would find it tough to keep up with the demand.
Hope I’m proved wrong.

Oh, did not know that there is a long waiting period for the Meteor. What is the kind of wait that we are looking at? RE has some magic, most of their recent launches across segments have been reasonably successful. As many thought, they do not seem to be surviving on past glory, rather agile enough to sense the market pretty well.
Happy to see an Indian company making waves in a fiercely competitive segment

While the article heading is all bombastic, the overall scene is not so great. It's basically a part of Classic (and other 350cc) buyers migrating to the Meteor 350cc option.

Just on a month on month basis comparison of 350cc Royal Enfield bike sales we get a more better and well informed picture

Meteor 350cc: an increase of ~2k in sales

Oh, there is a huge wait. My dad booked his one on 24/12/20, we're looking at delivery in 2nd week of May (+/-2 weeks).
