Honda has unveiled the CB400X and CB400F at the ongoing 2021 Shanghai Auto Show. The Honda CB400X is an ADV offering, while the CB400F is its streetfighter sibling. Both motorcycles will be introduced in the Chinese market sometime later this year.



The Honda CB400X is essentially a smaller displacement version of the CB500X which was introduced in India earlier this year.

The 2021 Honda CB400X features most of the equipment as its larger CB500X sibling. In addition, the new Honda CB400X also comes with a smaller LED headlamp design with an integrated position lamp.



Coming to the Honda CB400F, the motorcycle offers a sporty appeal with split seats, flat handlebars, a sculpted fuel tank and a mildly aggressive riding posture.



Both the Honda CB400X and CB400F come powered by the same 399cc parallel-twin engine producing 42 BHP and 37 Nm. Both bikes are also said to feature standard telescopic forks at the front, with a mono-shock suspension setup at the rear. Braking is handled by single disc brakes at both ends.

With Honda just recently having introduced the CB500X in the Indian market. It is highly unlikely that either of the two motorcycles will make it to Indian shores anytime soon.

Yes. No chance.

400cc is important in few of the East Asian markets - like the mid-class motorcycle requirements in Japan, 2A license requirements in Singapore and 250-400cc tariff slabs in China.

400 range essentially are the same motorcycles - but with the 67mm piston making a stroke of 56.6mm to duck under 400cc as against 66.8mm to make it 471cc. To compensate - it runs an increased compression ratio of 11.2:1 as against a very relaxed 10.7:1 on the 500 to produce similar power outputs on paper, though torque is still less by 4Nm and produced 1000rpm higher in the range.

For the same reason, I think they will release CB400X to Indian market soon, with a lesser price tag, comparatively. They can attract all their current CB 350 customers for an upgrade to 400 if they price it sensibly.

But, after seeing the price tag of CB500X, I am completely disappointed with pricing strategy and lost all my hopes of purchasing Honda super bikes

I am a delighted customer of Bajaj Dominar now and will continue to run with it for next 4-5 years with out looking at Honda.
